Background / History

Xiao Wu initially travels with Tang San, but her view of him changes after Ye Qiong privately warns her that Tang Hao knows she is a hundred-thousand-year soul beast and allegedly intends to reserve her as a future soul ring for his son. Terrified, she begins physically distancing herself from Tang San while concealing the reason from him. 11

After arriving in Soto City, she meets Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing through the Douluo Chat Group. The three quickly bond over their shared dislike of Dai Mubai, and Xiao Wu promises that they will protect Zhu Zhuqing. She then entrusts them with her own secret: she is a soul beast in human form and fears Tang Hao's surveillance. 14 15

At Shrek Academy's assessment, Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing reject Tang San's proposed formation. They instead use him as Zhao Wuji's primary distraction while executing Bibi Dong's tactics. Xiao Wu repeatedly attacks Zhao Wuji's openings and intervenes only enough to keep Tang San from being incapacitated before the plan succeeds. 22 23

Xiao Wu later participates in the arranged mission to be taken by the Titan Giant Ape, Er Ming. She uses soul beast communication to instruct Er Ming to bring Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing with her, allowing the three to reach Star Lake and reunite with Da Ming. 36
