Stepping out of the inner room, Tang San leaned into Jiang Chen's ear and threatened, "Don't you dare hurt my father, understand?"
Jiang Chen nodded and said, "Rest assured, I'm a good person."
Tang San gave Jiang Chen one last warning look before heading out the door.
Jiang Chen felt speechless inside, Your father is a hidden big shot; how much courage would I need to even think about biting him? Isn't that just asking for death?
Chapter 9: Uncle Will Teach You How to Work Iron
Tang San was fast, and before long, he returned carrying two fish.
Jiang Chen was somewhat surprised; he hadn't expected the kid to go off and catch fish.
He glanced at the two fish in Tang San's hands and was secretly shocked. There were two tiny holes in the heads of both fish, as if something had pierced right through them.
Must be a hidden weapon, Jiang Chen mused.
Watching Tang San clumsily trying to gut the fish, Jiang Chen curiously leaned in, startling Tang San, who had been sweating profusely and focusing intently on his task.
Seeing Tang San holding the kitchen knife with hands as clumsy as hooves, Jiang Chen burst into laughter.
"Let me do it." He snatched the knife from Tang San's hand and nimbly scraped off the scales, gutted the fish, removed the gills, and rinsed them clean.
Under Tang San's stunned gaze, Jiang Chen finished the entire performance in just a few minutes.
"Stunned, aren't you?" Seeing Tang San's dazed expression, Jiang Chen chuckled.
Tang San nodded, but quickly shook his head and pursed his lips, thinking to himself, What's so great about that?
"Leave it to me. Go get the ingredients ready: green onions, ginger, garlic, chili, cooking wine, and soy sauce."
As Jiang Chen spoke, he grabbed the other fish, but Tang San stood there without moving.
"You need all that? Can't we just boil it in water and eat it?" Tang San asked, surprised.
"What do you think? Go get them ready, quickly." Jiang Chen urged. He could tell at a glance that Tang San was someone who didn't know how to eat; if he left it to Tang San, even a dog would find it hard to swallow.
Tang Hao stood to the side, watching the two busy little figures with interest.
Uh... actually, he didn't know how to cook either, otherwise, he would have done it himself.
Tang San gathered the ingredients and looked at Jiang Chen suspiciously. "Can you actually eat something made like this?"
Jiang Chen shook his head, smiling without a word.
Half an hour later, Tang San stuffed a large piece of fish into his mouth. The rich aroma and the spicy kick of the chili immediately jolted his senses. "So delicious!"
Tang Hao's eyes also lit up as he looked at Jiang Chen in surprise. "Little Chen, come over to Uncle's place to play more often. Uncle will teach you how to work iron."
Work iron, my foot! Jiang Chen muttered to himself. He knew Tang Hao was likely just craving his cooking.
Still, visiting often was fine. After all, he had already planned to stick by Tang San's side in the future to share in his fortune, so he needed to build a good relationship early on.
Just then, Old Jack's voice drifted over. "Little Chen, are you there?"
Jiang Chen's ears perked up. He rushed to the doorway and waved at Old Jack, who was walking toward them.
