Chapter 7

The villagers watched the enraged Su Yuntao with immense trepidation, standing there blankly and at a loss, no longer daring to make a sound. The entire world fell silent.

The seven children inside the wooden house were even more terrified, huddled together and shivering as they stared at Su Yuntao's furious face.

The Spirit Master from Spirit Hall was angry; what were they to do?

Su Yuntao looked at the villagers who were still standing there blankly instead of moving aside, his expression growing even more dissatisfied. Just as he was about to scold them again, Old Jack's roar rang out.

"What are you all standing there for? Didn't you hear the Spirit Master tell you to move?"

Old Jack hurried over, pulling Tang San along like an angry old lion, nearly ready to strike those people with the cane in his hand.

Those men quickly stepped aside, not daring to offend Old Jack's authority.

Old Jack continued to scold, "Have you all lost your minds? If the Spirit Master gets angry, who will awaken our children's spirits? Lord Su Yuntao is the greatest existence, do you understand?"

The men came to their senses one after another and quickly shouted, "Lord Su Yuntao, we know we were wrong."

Su Yuntao's expression softened, quite satisfied with Old Jack's flattery, and he said gently, "Let the children come in; I am on a tight schedule."

However, someone still gathered the courage to say, "Village Chief, Jiang Chen, he..."

Old Jack glared at him angrily, ignored him, and spoke directly to Jiang Chen, "Little Chen, go in. Remember to keep a safe distance."

Su Yuntao was very satisfied with Old Jack's attitude. "Let's begin immediately. Everyone, line up."

As his voice fell, the seven children scrambled to the front. Tang San was helplessly pushed to the back, and following behind him was Jiang Chen.

Because he possessed the mind of an adult, Tang San had never been able to get along with these children over the years, so it was normal for him to be ostracized by them.

As for Jiang Chen, he didn't need to be told; he sensibly stood at the very end, arms crossed, leaning against the back wooden door with a lazy air.

Old Jack noticed Jiang Chen's posture and was so angry he puffed out his beard and glared, constantly signaling to him with his eyes. Jiang Chen had no choice but to stand up straight.

Five meters in front of him, Tang San kept looking back, watching Jiang Chen vigilantly as if afraid that Jiang Chen would suddenly pounce and deliver a "fatal blow."

Seeing Tang San's wary little expression, Jiang Chen found it somewhat amusing. He raised his two hands to his fair face, bared his teeth to reveal two cute little fangs, and leered at Tang San.
