Kakashi's life was truly miserable. First, his father died. After finally finding two companions, Obito died, and then he killed Rin with his "own hands." Not long after, his teacher and his teacher's wife passed away as well. Now, he was left with two children, one of whom was a jinchuriki. To say nothing of Kakashi the genius, even a god-like Kakashi would struggle to bear such a burden.
"Are you protecting me now, just like you used to protect my mother?"
"Yes, the Third Hokage instructed me to protect you from the shadows." Kakashi nodded, not denying it.
"Let's go back." Yin Xiang took Kakashi's large hand with his small one. Kakashi nodded, pulled his mask back up, and led Yin Xiang away.
As the two walked down the street, everyone they passed greeted Yin Xiang, trying to force delicious treats and toys into his hands. Everyone knew Yin Xiang was Minato's son. Now that Minato had died in battle sealing the Nine-Tails, Yin Xiang had become the village's hero's son, an orphan of a hero.
Everyone had always been fond of Yin Xiang, and now, because of what happened to Minato, the villagers took even better care of him. Looking at the bags and bags of items in Kakashi's hands, he sighed inwardly. If Naruto were treated the same way, would he be able to grow up well?
He probably could, if it were Naruto... Yin Xiang thought to himself.
Once Yin Xiang returned home, Kakashi handed everything over to the nanny. Although Minato and his wife were gone, Yin Xiang could still afford to pay her salary. He didn't really want to keep her, but his current body was simply too small, making chores like cooking inconvenient, so he had no choice but to keep her on.
Twelve years passed in the blink of an eye. Yin Xiang had grown into a handsome young man with messy black hair and a black outfit. Unlike others who wore open-toed sandals, Yin Xiang wore black shoes as he moved rapidly through the forest.
Swish.
A black blur flashed by, and a kunai was pulled from a tree. It was identical to Minato's kunai, complete with the same markings. The person who had pulled it was none other than Yin Xiang.
"Ten years, and I'm still not as fast as Dad." Yin Xiang pulled out the kunai and shook his head.
"Time for class, Yin Xiang." Kakashi's figure appeared below him. By this time, Kakashi had removed his mask and was no longer an Anbu member; he was just passing by and called out to him.
"My Shadow Clone has already gone in my place. This Flying Thunder God technique consumes too much chakra. With my current reserves, I can only teleport five times. It's too exhausting; I need to recover my chakra." Yin Xiang sat down and began to meditate.
"Truly impressive, learning the Flying Thunder God and Shadow Clone so quickly," Kakashi said from below with a smile.
"That's not all. If I had spent all these years learning only these two ninjutsu, then the title of 'genius' I carry would be a joke," Yin Xiang said brazenly. In reality, aside from the Flying Thunder God and Shadow Clone, he had only managed to learn the Rasengan in the last two years; he hadn't even mastered a single C-rank ninjutsu.
It wasn't that he didn't want to learn, but there were simply no other ninjutsu scrolls in the house. There were only scrolls on sealing techniques, but those were so incredibly complex that without guidance, Yin Xiang couldn't understand them at all.
Thus, at twelve years old, Yin Xiang only possessed these three techniques, along with the basic Three Body Technique and taijutsu. While the Flying Thunder God and Rasengan were enough to make anyone green with envy, in this world, having only these two techniques wasn't quite enough.
"You'll be graduating soon, and then you can start taking genin missions."
"Genin missions are just miscellaneous chores anyway; I'll leave those to my Shadow Clone. Big Brother Kakashi, do you have any Wind or Lightning Release scrolls? Let me study them."
"They're at home. I'll go get them for you now." Kakashi nodded and left, returning shortly with two scrolls containing Wind and Lightning Release techniques.
"These only have C-rank ninjutsu. I've memorized the B-rank ones with my Sharingan. If you need them, I'll write them down in a scroll and bring them to you tomorrow."
"Great, thanks, Big Brother." Yin Xiang jumped down from the tree and took the scrolls from Kakashi. "You're quite free, aren't you, Big Brother?"
"Ah, things have been quiet lately." Kakashi nodded.
"How is Naruto?" Yin Xiang asked.
"The same as always, causing trouble every day. The Third Hokage is quite troubled by him." Kakashi would normally only learn of Naruto's identity when he began leading Team 7, but because of Yin Xiang, he had learned of Naruto's situation early. It didn't make much of a difference, though.
"Does he wear the new clothes I sent him?"
"He does. You really go to great lengths, preparing new clothes for him every year and getting the sizes just right. You also prepare gifts for his birthday every year. Even though he doesn't know who sends them, he accepts them happily." Kakashi smiled.
"I can't see him, so I should at least do something for him. Otherwise, I'd be failing Mom and Dad," Yin Xiang said with a smile, opening the scroll to read.
"When you're all out on missions, you're bound to run into each other eventually."
"I'm looking forward to that day. Wind Release: Great Breakthrough!" Yin Xiang performed the hand seals, and a hurricane erupted from his hands, forcing the entire forest to lean to one side as countless leaves rained down.
"..." Kakashi was speechless. "You only read that once, right? And you already learned Great Breakthrough?"
"It feels like these Wind Release techniques come naturally to me. I get the hang of them just by looking once. It's probably my constitution." Yin Xiang smiled. It was no wonder the Insoro Clan was one of the three great families just by relying on Wind and Lightning ninjutsu; their speed of comprehension for these elements was truly extreme.
"Then take a look at this." Kakashi said, sparks of electricity crackling in his hand. "Chidori!"
"Chidori!" Yin Xiang's eyes lit up. He leaned in to look, then extended his right hand. Chakra began to condense, and soon, sparks of electricity flickered to life. "Chidori!"
"I don't think you're a genius; you're a monster." Kakashi watched the electricity on Yin Xiang's hand as his own slowly faded away.
Bam!
Yin Xiang slammed his Chidori into the tree in front of him, and it collapsed instantly.
"That's amazing." Yin Xiang looked at his right hand, his face filled with excitement. Having a constitution that allowed him to learn Wind and Lightning ninjutsu at a glance was almost on par with the Sharingan.
"It seems I can pass on all my Wind and Lightning techniques to you. I haven't let the teacher down after all." Kakashi was also very happy.
