[Ding, Temporary Mission 1 released: Build a good relationship with your teammates. Reward: 500 EXP.]
[Temporary Mission 2: Gain Obito's recognition. Reward: 1000 EXP.]
Ryosuke had only just caught sight of the two people inside the room when the system's notification sounded.
500 EXP wasn't even enough to raise his chakra limit once; it seemed these two teammates were truly insignificant characters.
However, building a relationship with Shisui was still necessary. He wasn't just his teacher, but he might also be able to influence the main storyline.
"Teacher, is this the third teammate you mentioned? Why is he just a kid?" The boy inside the room stood up, crossed his arms, and asked Shisui with a cold, aloof expression.
"Mihawa, Ryosuke managed to break through my genjutsu."
Shisui said only one sentence, leaving the boy named Mihawa stunned.
"What? He actually dispelled Teacher's Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes Technique? How is that possible? You must have gone easy on him, Teacher," Mihawa shouted loudly.
"Hello, my name is Miyuki. May I ask what your name is?" The girl with her hair tied back walked over and asked Ryosuke politely.
"Ryosuke," Ryosuke said expressionlessly.
"Please sit here, Ryosuke-kun. We'll be teammates from now on, so let's get along well. Oh, by the way, I'm not very good at medical ninjutsu."
Uchiha Miyuki sat down opposite Mihawa and said with a smile.
In Konoha's ninja squads, to increase the team's survival rate, there was usually one person who could use medical ninjutsu, and that person was typically the girl in the team.
Although their Team One followed the standard Konoha four-man squad model, it was composed entirely of members from the Uchiha clan.
The Uchiha clan was born for war; they didn't know any ninjutsu for saving lives or healing the wounded.
Ryosuke was just about to speak when he heard Mihawa say, "That is to say, don't get injured easily during missions. It will only drag us down, and you'll just have to wait for death."
"Don't worry, I will protect you all," Shisui said, patting Ryosuke on the shoulder.
With the "High-Speed Regeneration" provided by the Shinigami Template, it would be difficult for Ryosuke to die, barring extremely special circumstances.
But he had no need to reveal his trump card in front of these people.
He sat down next to Miyuki without saying a word.
Miyuki's eyes crinkled into slits as she smiled, yet a cold, murderous intent permeated her entire being.
"If Teacher protects us like this, how are we supposed to grow? Don't you agree, Ryosuke-kun?"
Miyuki placed a piece of burnt meat into Ryosuke's bowl.
"Ryosuke-kun, you should eat more."
"Haha, seeing you all so full of energy puts my mind at ease. How about this: we'll start the first phase of training tomorrow, focusing on your coordination skills," Obito said, sitting in the position facing the door with a smile.
"Coordination? With him? I can complete A-rank missions all by myself," Uchiha Mihawa said with a look of disdain.
"Mihawa-kun, don't say that. We members of the Uchiha clan should work together. After all, there are many people who covet our eyes, so we will always encounter dangerous enemies outside of our missions," Uchiha Miyuki said with a smile, uttering some very ominous words.
Ryosuke's brow furrowed. His two teammates didn't seem very normal.
He didn't know if it was due to their upbringing or their inherent personalities.
Cooperating with people like this would likely only lead to more trouble.
Shisui, meanwhile, just laughed it off, playing the role of the "nice guy," which did nothing to further the relationship between the three.
Ryosuke kept his head down, focused on eating. He had almost no income right now, so unless he caught game, he rarely got to eat meat.
After midnight.
The group parted ways at the street corner.
Ryosuke patted his stomach; he was too full, and he probably wouldn't be able to sleep for a while.
He headed toward the west side of the village, where there was a small river; it would be the perfect place to catch the night breeze and clear his head.
The village was exceptionally quiet tonight; the Uchiha clansmen had likely all gone to the shrine for their gathering.
For the past six months or so, these shrine gatherings had become increasingly frequent.
But Ryosuke was just a child and had no qualifications to attend.
Perhaps I should find an opportunity to sneak in and hear just how far they've prepared.
If I were the Uchiha clan head, I would consider leaving the village rather than choosing rebellion. Even if they won, it would only be a pyrrhic victory.
Ryosuke shook his head while pondering the affairs of the Uchiha clan, walking toward the riverbank.
Soon, he could see the shimmering surface of the water.
At that moment, several stones were hurled at him from various directions.
"Sonido!"
Ryosuke vanished from where he stood.
"Could it be that I triggered some kind of trap? That shouldn't be possible."
A mechanism consisting only of stones could, at most, deal with a stray dog.
"Someone's here! Stay alert!"
Ryosuke immediately activated his Sharingan and then triggered his skill.
The surrounding environment instantly transformed into a vast web within his vision.
A figure was hiding behind a large tree, peeking out.
His lips moved slightly, and through his Sharingan, Ryosuke immediately 'read' his words.
"I'll teach that brat a lesson this time; he had the nerve to show off like that in front of the teacher."
Ryosuke realized at once that the person must be the boy named Uchiha Mihawa.
He hadn't expected him to be so competitive, even going as far as to ambush him.
"It seems if I don't give him a little lesson, we won't be able to 'get along' in the future. Sonido!"
The corners of Ryosuke's mouth curled up as he activated his skill once more.
Aside from Fire Release ninjutsu, Uchiha Mihawa's specialty was the Shadow Shuriken.
The reason he had been able to throw over a dozen stones in one go just now was thanks to this technique.
What he hadn't expected, however, was for Ryosuke to vanish during a move that should have been a guaranteed hit.
Furthermore, even with his two-tomoe Sharingan activated, he couldn't locate his opponent's position.
"What's going on? Where did that brat hide? Coward, I'll definitely tell the teacher tomorrow to have him kicked out of Team One."
Uchiha Mihawa punched the tree trunk in frustration.
"Hey, isn't it bad form to talk behind someone's back?"
Ryosuke's voice suddenly appeared behind Mihawa. His body stiffened for a moment before he immediately used the Substitution Technique.
"Phew, what's up with that guy? How did he find me?"
"It's simple, because your technique is far too crude. Who taught you?"
Ryosuke appeared behind Mihawa once again, placing a hand on his shoulder.
This meant that Mihawa had already lost; in a real battle, he would have been decapitated by now.
"Who exactly are you? I've never seen anyone as formidable as you among the children of this generation in the Uchiha clan."
Uchiha Mihawa asked with a look of shock.
"If you haven't seen it, that only means your experience is too limited."
