Sanhe and Miyuki stared at everything unfolding before them in utter shock.
Even with their Sharingan activated, they were unable to track Ryosuke's movements.
He had transformed into a streak of azure electric arcs; every time he paused, another Cloud Ninja fell to the ground.
[Ding, congratulations to the host for killing an enemy. Randomly plundering one ninjutsu from the target.]
[Congratulations to the host for obtaining ninjutsu: Lightning Style: Lightning Blade.]
[Ding, congratulations to the host for killing an enemy. Randomly plundering...]
[Ding, congratulations to the host for killing...]
[Ding...]
The system notifications rang out in a continuous stream, but Ryosuke had no time to spare for them.
His physical strength and chakra were draining rapidly, and he could only grit his teeth and push forward.
Finally, after killing the sixth enemy, he lost his footing and plummeted from mid-air.
Fortunately, the last remaining Cloud Ninja had been scared out of his wits and fled before he could witness Ryosuke's pathetic state.
Sanhe and Miyuki were startled.
The two of them immediately rushed over to help Ryosuke up.
"Hey, are you alright? Don't you dare die on me, or I'll be consumed by guilt. Also, thank you for what you did this time," Sanhe said, his expression complex.
"Sanhe, is this really the time? We should check Ryosuke's injuries first," Miyuki said, her face full of anxiety.
Helplessly, neither of them knew any medical ninjutsu, so they could only stare at the unconscious Ryosuke, at a loss for what to do.
At this moment, Ryosuke's cheeks were sunken and his skin had lost its luster, making him look like an old man nearing the end of his days.
"Is Ryosuke going to die? What should we do now? If I had known, I should have learned some medical ninjutsu."
Miyuki pounded the ground in agony.
"Don't talk nonsense. He'll be fine. He looks more like he's starving to me. That move just now must have consumed a massive amount of stamina. Why don't you try feeding him a Military Ration Pill?"
Sanhe said with unusual calmness.
"Right, why didn't I think of that?"
Miyuki took a deep breath, pulled a Military Ration Pill from her pouch, and grabbed a handful, intending to shove them into Ryosuke's mouth.
"Hey, are you trying to kill him? Military Ration Pills have severe side effects," Sanhe quickly stopped her.
"I forgot, I forgot. Damn it, this is all my fault. If I hadn't begged him to intervene, Ryosuke wouldn't have ended up like this," Miyuki said, filled with self-reproach.
She then placed a single Military Ration Pill into Ryosuke's mouth.
"He can't swallow it like this; he needs water. Do you have any?" Sanhe continued.
"I do."
Miyuki produced some water, but no matter what she tried, she couldn't get Ryosuke to drink.
"Why don't you try using your mouth?" Sanhe suggested, glancing at Miyuki.
Miyuki slapped Sanhe, sending him flying.
"Hey, what did you hit me for? I'm just trying to save him! If you aren't willing, let me do it."
Sanhe rubbed his face as he walked back.
Miyuki's expression shifted several times before she finally stopped Sanhe.
"I'll do it."
Summoning all her courage, she took a mouthful of water, lowered her head, and prepared to feed it to Ryosuke.
"Cough, cough."
Before Miyuki could touch him, Ryosuke coughed. He jerked his head up, colliding directly with Miyuki's forehead, knocking her onto the ground while he swallowed the water in her mouth.
"What are you two doing? Where are the enemies?"
Ryosuke felt as if a mountain were pressing down on him; even speaking was a struggle.
This was the aftermath of excessive physical and chakra depletion. It wasn't an injury or illness, so High-Speed Regeneration couldn't alleviate it.
"Ryosuke, you woke up at a really bad time, or you would have been in for a treat."
"What treat?" Ryosuke asked, completely bewildered.
"You..."
Before Sanhe could finish, Miyuki kicked him away.
"Don't listen to his nonsense. Only one enemy was left, but he managed to escape. Ryosuke, are you alright now?"
Miyuki said sternly, acting as if nothing had just happened.
"My stamina and chakra are severely depleted, but this place is dangerous. We need to leave a signal for Shisui and get out of here quickly."
Thinking of that purple shadow, Ryosuke spoke to them immediately.
Sanhe and Miyuki saw the serious expression on Ryosuke's face and nodded immediately. They first left the Uchiha clan's unique mark on a tree, then helped Ryosuke leave the forest together.
Night fell.
The three of them huddled inside a newly dug cave, warming themselves by a fire.
"The enemy lost so many men this time; they shouldn't come looking for trouble again, right?" Sanhe asked, looking back while keeping watch at the cave entrance.
"It's hard to say. They are Cloud Village ninjas; their greed for the Sharingan could drive them to do anything." Ryosuke had already consumed a bento box and five Military Ration Pills, yet his body still felt somewhat drained.
It seems I need to increase the intensity of my training in the future, otherwise, the Eight Inner Gates will just be a burden.
At that moment, a shadow appeared at the entrance of their cave.
"Who is it?"
Sanhe stood up immediately, baring his kunai.
"It's me."
Shisui appeared at the entrance.
His face was haggard and his eyes were weary, lacking any of his usual relaxed demeanor.
"Teacher Shisui? What happened to you?" Sanhe immediately helped Shisui into the cave.
"It's nothing, just a bit of chakra exhaustion. I'm glad you're all safe."
Shisui leaned against the wall, glanced at the three of them, and revealed a familiar smile.
"Teacher Shisui, we encountered the Cloud Village's Anbu, and it was Ryosuke who saved us."
Miyuki said to Shisui.
"So that's how it is. It seems we were indeed betrayed by the village."
Shisui closed his eyes in pain.
On his way here, he had still held onto illusions, thinking that the Third Hokage had been forced into this and that it was all for the sake of the village.
Furthermore, if it were truly only his life being sacrificed, he wouldn't even have any complaints.
But now, after hearing Miyuki's words, Shisui understood everything in an instant.
The Cloud Village didn't just want his eyes; they weren't even going to spare the three children.
The cave fell into silence, with only the crackling of the flames.
After an unknown amount of time, Sanhe suddenly spoke up: "Teacher Shisui, what do we do now? Can we still return to the village?"
Shisui opened his eyes and glanced at the moonlight outside the cave.
Then he said: "Of course we can, but we must first complete the mission the Third Hokage entrusted to us. Let us be the ones to end this war ourselves."
Shisui revealed an incomparably firm expression.
"Yes!"
Sanhe and Miyuki nodded in unison; their trust in Shisui was beyond doubt.
Only Ryosuke kept his head down, deep in thought.
Ending the war themselves? Is that really possible?
If they were to encounter the Raikage, would they truly have any chance of winning?
