The Second Shinobi World War was incredibly brutal.
Konoha stood alone against four great ninja villages: the Cloud Village, the Mist Village, the Sand Village, and the Rock Village.
After four years of war, the casualties among the shinobi were staggering.
Due to the heavy losses, Konoha was unable to provide reinforcements to its allies, which ultimately led to the destruction of the Village Hidden in the Whirlpools.
Another ally, the Rain Village, changed its stance after suffering heavy damage; it defected to the Rock and Sand Villages, and now, united with those two, it was launching an offensive against Konoha.
The battlefield in the Land of Rain faced enemies from three different villages, and the leader of the Rain Village was the God of Shinobi, who possessed the deadly venom of the salamander.
His poison was impossible to cure; to inhale it was to die.
Everyone feared his name, preferring to head to the northern front to fight the Cloud Village or the eastern front to fight the Mist Village rather than go to the Land of Rain.
It was rare for any genin to dare go there, but now that those who had been sent were injured, who could fill their positions?
Sarutobi Hiruzen took a deep drag from his pipe, his expression turning grave.
"Their strength is formidable. Who injured them?"
"It was a brat from the Uchiha clan, named Uchiha Kurohane."
Sarutobi Hiruzen blinked in confusion.
"Kurohane? I haven't heard of him. Is he part of the Police Force?"
"No, he is still a student at the Ninja Academy, only nine years old this year."
Sarutobi Hiruzen stood up in astonishment.
"He's nine years old and managed to defeat three fourteen-year-old genin?"
"And one of them was a genius at that—I had taught him ninjutsu myself; he was practically my disciple. How did that child manage it?"
Shimura Danzo sneered, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Need you ask? He must have awakened the Sharingan."
"Awakening the Sharingan at nine? After Kagami, the Uchiha have produced another genius."
Sarutobi Hiruzen's tone was filled with lament, his expression complex.
The Uchiha was a clan that produced geniuses one after another.
Yet, the more talented they were, the more extreme their personalities tended to be.
To put it bluntly, they were difficult to control, and some even refused to listen to the Hokage.
As Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen did not view the emergence of a genius within the Uchiha clan as a good thing; rather, he saw it as a nuisance.
He preferred obedient, loyal, ordinary shinobi over geniuses who were capable but insubordinate.
Shimura Danzo caught Sarutobi Hiruzen's train of thought and curled his lips into a cold, sinister smile.
"That is a naturally evil Uchiha brat, ruthless in his methods. He used a Fuma Shuriken to pierce the kidneys of all three of them. To be so vicious at such a young age—Hiruzen, you know what must be done, don't you?"
"..."
Sarutobi Hiruzen knew what Danzo was implying, but he remained silent.
He only felt it was a pity; internal organ injuries were difficult to recover from, especially the kidneys. These three shinobi would need at least three months of recuperation.
They would be unable to return to the battlefield in the short term.
After pondering for a moment, Sarutobi Hiruzen asked, "Why did they fight in the first place?"
"It was because of that girl from the Uzumaki Clan who just arrived in Konoha. Kurohane seemed dissatisfied with our policy of abandoning the Village Hidden in the Whirlpools, and even went so far as to claim that your decision to let the village fall was wrong."
"Hiruzen, he is challenging your authority! This naturally evil Uchiha brat must not be allowed to live!"
Because Danzo had only listened to the report from the Pineapple Head and harbored deep-seated hatred for the Uchiha clan, his description deviated significantly from the facts.
On the other hand, he knew that Hiruzen had always felt ashamed and regretful for failing to save the Village Hidden in the Whirlpools.
This was Hiruzen's sore spot.
Shimura Danzo played this angle to the hilt, hoping to stir the darker side of Sarutobi Hiruzen.
"Hiruzen, if his way of thinking spreads, it will be extremely detrimental to you and could even divide Konoha. This evil Uchiha brat cannot stay; I can help you get rid of him."
Sarutobi Hiruzen glared at him and said sternly, "Danzo, we are in a time of war. How can you harbor such thoughts that undermine our unity? If Konoha is to win this war, we must rely on the strength of the Uchiha clan!"
"We cannot have infighting!!"
Shimura Danzo let out a cold laugh.
"Hiruzen, do you think I would personally kill him? Do you take me for an idiot?"
"I mean to use him as a replacement for those men. Send him to the battlefield in the Land of Rain. If he dies on the front lines, the Uchiha clan will have one less genius, and we will have one less future threat."
Sarutobi Hiruzen sighed.
"He is only nine years old. Sending a nine-year-old child to the battlefield—is that something a human would do? If word of this gets out, do you think I would have the face to remain Hokage?"
Shimura Danzo believed that caring about one's reputation was a foolish endeavor.
Those who wished to achieve great things had to be willing to use any means necessary.
His willingness to set aside his pride was precisely where he surpassed Sarutobi Hiruzen.
The Second Hokage had failed to see this, which was a lack of vision on his part and proof of his naivety.
Whenever Shimura Danzo thought of this, an uncontrollable rage would well up within him.
"Hiruzen, you are too naive; you will live to regret this!"
Sarutobi Hiruzen responded immediately, as if he had been prepared for this all along.
"Danzo, I am the Hokage!"
After speaking, Shimura Danzo turned and left, slamming the door shut with great force.
It was as if he were trying to vent all the fury in his heart onto the wooden door.
Bang!
After the thunderous sound, the office returned to silence.
Sarutobi Hiruzen let out a sigh.
"Although he is too young to be sent out, the positions of those three must be filled."
Sarutobi Hiruzen made a gesture, and an Anbu appeared before him in a flash of movement.
"Tell Kagami to come here immediately; there are some things I must discuss with him..."
That evening.
Uchiha Kurohane was eating dinner alone in his cramped home.
It was udon noodles he had cooked himself, accompanied by a fried pork cutlet and stir-fried tomato and eggs.
Although he had just scavenged ninja tools worth 400,000 ryo and become rich overnight, he still had to go to a tool shop to exchange them for cash. Since Uchiha Kurohane hadn't gone yet, his dinner tonight remained quite modest.
On the other hand, if he sold a portion of the shuriken, he would no longer be able to use the 800 Shuriken Barrage.
He thought the technique was quite cool and was still debating whether or not to sell the shuriken.
Since he had taken Kushina on as his underling, and Kushina had the backing of the Uzumaki Clan, she was likely a little heiress. If he needed money in the future, he might be able to just ask her for it.
Just as Uchiha Kurohane was deep in thought, a cry suddenly rang out in his ears.
[Ji~ The host has been called a "Born Evil Uchiha Brat" by Shimura Danzo. Achievement "Born Evil Uchiha Brat" unlocked. Title entry "Born Evil Uchiha Brat S" obtained.]
(Born Evil Uchiha Brat S: The host has obtained the "Born Evil Uchiha Brat" title. All Sharingan abilities increased by 50%.)
All Sharingan abilities increased by 50%?
That was pretty impressive.
The Sharingan was already powerful, and a 50% increase meant a boost of half its strength, making it even more formidable!
Furthermore, Uchiha Kurohane had previously obtained Sasuke's bloodline, granting him his Straight Tomoe Sharingan.
His Sharingan abilities had already reached the level of "Sasuke," and now, with an additional 50% increase, he had completely surpassed him!
But what right did Danzo have to give him such a label?
Had he ever been Hokage? He was just making assumptions and talking nonsense!
