The probability of an Elf Bug evolving into a Little Elf was very low. Out of ten or twenty Elf Bugs, perhaps only two or three would evolve, and there was also a high chance of evolution failing.

As for whether the evolution probability had anything to do with transplanting Bug Grass, Liszt did not know.

There was no evidence to show that the two were related.

Back when Zyra had still been a Thorn Bug, its Bug Grass had been planted at Tulip Castle. Only after it migrated to Flower Town did it begin evolving, and it evolved successfully. The Smoke mission had certainly helped, but this at least showed that after Bug Grass was transplanted, evolution could still occur and succeed.

"Could transplanting Bug Grass be, for Elf Bugs, something like... the Three-Phase Power of the Rubber Bug triplets?" Liszt suddenly thought.

Three-Phase Power ought to count as a kind of magic. It would not affect the Rubber Bugs' evolution; otherwise, the Smoke mission's excavation of their abilities would be harming Liszt.

That did not fit the usual style of Smoke missions.

"The Rubber Bug triplets use Three-Phase Power and recover after resting for a while. When an Elf Bug transplants its Bug Grass, it also recovers after resting for a while. Perhaps for Elf Bugs, it's like a mage casting magic—it surely consumes some strength, but perhaps it is even more of a form of training?"

Could repeatedly releasing Three-Phase Power and repeatedly transplanting Bug Grass train an Elf Bug's grasp of "magic"?
