Liszt had been dozing in his tent, but he woke as soon as Emily called out. He was never a deep sleeper. So when a knight came to summon him, he lifted the tent flap and stepped outside. Without mounting a dragon, he soared into the sky and turned into a shooting star.

He landed amid the only remaining Man-Eating Tree Cluster. With Magic Eye, he could see that all the man-eating trees—which had shown no magical glow at all—were now shimmering with pale yellow magic.

The man-eating trees had been burrowing underground when Emily spotted them. She immediately unleashed a blast of lightning-attribute battle aura, disrupting their movements, so they had been unable to dig down despite their efforts. But Emily and the others hadn't dared to harm the trees, for fear of injuring the Dragon Elf.

That was why the standoff had continued.

By the time Liszt arrived, the trees were still desperately trying to burrow into the earth, but they couldn't manage it.

With a few quick steps, he rushed to a man-eating tree lying on the ground and grabbed its soft trunk. Then he released his dragon's might, swiftly subduing every tree. The pale yellow magic faded, and the trees quickly resumed their original forms.

"Caught you, little one. Stop struggling and show yourself." Liszt smiled. The inconspicuous tree in his hand contained an intense glow of magic. It was clearly where the Man-Eating Tree Dragon Elf was hiding.
