Background / History

Ning Fengzhi monitored events around Shrek Academy after Ning Rongrong enrolled there. Viewing Lin Yan as a talent worth controlling, he first intended to use Rongrong to recruit him; if that failed, he was prepared to eliminate him. He considered Rongrong’s personal feelings secondary to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect’s interests. 44 45

As part of this plan, Ning Fengzhi sent Gu Rong to assassinate Wen Ruan, intending to remove her and create an opening for Ning Rongrong to become involved with Lin Yan. Gu Rong instead encountered Tang Hao, was severely injured, and lost much of his combat capability. 63 77

Following Gu Rong’s crippling, Ning Fengzhi rejected Chen Xin’s proposal to use the sect’s ninety-thousand-year left leg bone to restore Gu Rong’s missing limb.
