Background / History
Tang Hao guarded Ah Yin's original body and her hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone in a concealed cave behind a waterfall near Holy Soul Village. When he returned to find the barrier deactivated and both treasures gone, he blamed Spirit Hall and began pursuing its members in the Star Dou Great Forest. 21 32 33
His grief over Ah Yin became the central weakness repeatedly exploited by Qin Chuan's mental and illusion-based abilities. Tang Hao is also confronted by Qin Chuan over the destruction of Yuze Village; Qin identifies himself as a surviving orphan and vows revenge against Tang Hao and the Clear Sky Sect. 35 49 50
Appearance
Tang Hao is a tall, burly middle-aged man whose unkempt appearance contrasts sharply with the oppressive presence of a Title Douluo. 32
- Messy black hair and sunken eye sockets. 32
- Heavy stubble and chapped lips. 32
- Usually wears a wrinkled, coarse gray robe. 32
- His bloodshot eyes become pronounced when enraged. 32 48
- His Martial Soul Avatar manifests as a forty-meter dark-red giant marked by slaughter patterns. 49
Personality
Tang Hao is driven by grief, obsession, and a violent desire for retribution. After Ah Yin's remains and spirit bone vanish, he requires no proof before treating Spirit Hall as the culprit, attacking Yue Guan and pursuing Spirit Hall's younger generation. 33 34
He is ruthless in battle and prone to abandoning restraint when enraged, but he is not fearless or thoughtless. He avoids directly confronting the Sky Azure Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape together, and he hides Tang San in a hollow tree before pursuing Qin Chuan. 47 48
His deepest emotional attachments are also his greatest vulnerabilities: Memory Kill traps him in memories of Ah Yin, while Elder's Majesty—assuming Tang Chen's form—reduces him to a psychologically shattered state. 35 50 55
Abilities & Skills
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang Hao wields the Clear Sky Hammer, described as the world's number one tool-type Martial Soul. Its immense physical force allows him to overwhelm opponents of the same rank in direct clashes. 32 33
- A single hammer strike forces Yue Guan back more than a dozen meters and leaves his arms numb. 32
- Its pressure is sufficient to make nearby spirit beasts cower and immobilize weaker Soul Masters. 32
- In battle, Tang Hao uses it with high-speed, heavy-impact attacks that create craters and widespread shockwaves. 33 49
Martial Soul Avatar
Tang Hao's seventh soul skill fuses him with the Clear Sky Hammer, creating a colossal Martial Soul Avatar. 33 49
- Takes the form of a forty-meter dark-red giant wielding an enlarged Clear Sky Hammer. 49
- Generates destructive shockwaves capable of uprooting trees, pulverizing rocks, and collapsing the terrain. 33
- Its stability deteriorates after repeated Ring Detonation and psychological disruption. 54 55
Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer
Tang Hao can chain hammer strikes together, stacking their force with each successive blow. 49 50
- Uses rapid, continuous hammer blows to seal off an opponent's routes of escape. 50
- The technique culminates in Nine Returns to One, releasing the accumulated force of the preceding strikes in one final blow. 50
- Qin Chuan avoids the final strike with Shinra Tensei rather than attempting to block it directly. 50
Mountain Collapse
Tang Hao's third spirit ability devastates the ground beneath his opponent. 50
- Upheaves and fractures the ground across a two-hundred-meter radius. 50
- Disrupts footing and creates openings for a follow-up hammer strike. 50
Divine Slaughter's Domain
Tang Hao's domain fills the battlefield with dark-crimson killing intent. 51
- Weakens enemy attributes by ten percent. 51
- Enhances Tang Hao's attributes by twenty percent. 51
- Its murderous aura directly pressures the target's mind and can cause mental collapse in weaker Soul Masters. 51
- The domain collapses when Elder's Majesty destabilizes Tang Hao's mental state. 55
Great Sumeru Hammer
Tang Hao's ninth soul skill fuses the power of all nine soul rings into a single overwhelming hammer strike. 51 52
- Produces a massive white-glowing Clear Sky Hammer. 51 52
- Is described as capable of stripping the skin from a Title Douluo of the same rank. 52
- Qin Chuan's Heavenly Dao Illusion Bell withstands Tang Hao's initial Great Sumeru Hammer. 52
Ring Detonation
Ring Detonation sacrifices the stored origin energy of Tang Hao's soul rings for a temporary surge in power. 52
- Detonating one ring raises his combat strength from Rank 95 to Rank 96. 52
- During his battle with Qin Chuan, he detonates three soul rings and reaches power near Rank 97. 53
- The technique leaves his soul rings needing three days to recover and causes a severe drop in Soul Power. 52 56
- The backlash weakens and destabilizes his Martial Soul Avatar. 54 55
Clear Sky Body Protection
Tang Hao's sixth soul skill forms a dark-golden defensive layer over his Martial Soul Avatar. 55
- He adopts it after Ring Detonation leaves him unable to sustain high-intensity offense. 55
Relationships
- Ah Yin — His deceased wife; Tang Hao guarded her original body and Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone, and her loss drives much of his rage. 33 51
- Tang San — His son. Tang Hao becomes enraged when Qin Chuan's Soul Judgment leaves Tang San spiritually damaged, then carries him to Slaughter City for treatment. 47 67
- Tang Chen — His grandfather and the person he respects most. Qin Chuan's imitation of Tang Chen causes Tang Hao's psychological defenses to collapse. 55 59
- Qin Chuan — Mortal enemy who stole Ah Yin's spirit bone, injured Tang San, rescued Xiao Wu, and defeated Tang Hao after exploiting his emotional vulnerabilities. 47 51 55 56
- Yue Guan — A Spirit Hall Title Douluo whom Tang Hao attacks after wrongly blaming Spirit Hall for the theft from his cave. 32 33
- Xiao Wu — Tang Hao controls her for a sacrifice before Qin Chuan takes her away; he subsequently pursues Qin Chuan. 46 47
Story Role / Major Arcs
Pursuit of Spirit Hall
Tang Hao tracks Yue Guan's group into the Star Dou Great Forest after discovering Ah Yin's cave has been emptied. He attacks Yue Guan, forces their battle away from the valley, and later attempts to kill Hu Liena while pursuing the fleeing Spirit Hall members. 32 33 34
Qin Chuan blocks Tang Hao's strike against Hu Liena and uses Memory Kill to draw Tang Hao into memories of Ah Yin, allowing Yue Guan's group to escape. 34 35 36
Xiao Wu Incident
Years later, Tang Hao accompanies Tang San during an attempt to use Xiao Wu for a sacrifice. Qin Chuan intervenes, incapacitates Tang San with Soul Judgment, takes Xiao Wu from the site, and flees from Tang Hao. 46 47
Tang Hao pursues Qin Chuan until Xiao Wu is handed to Er Ming. He then confronts Qin Chuan directly after recognizing him as the youth who previously used Memory Kill against him. 48
Battle Against Qin Chuan
Tang Hao battles Qin Chuan in the Star Dou Great Forest, using his Martial Soul Avatar, Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer, Mountain Collapse, Divine Slaughter's Domain, Great Sumeru Hammer, and Ring Detonation. 49 50 51 52
Despite severely damaging Qin Chuan's Heavenly Dao Illusion Bell, Tang Hao's detonation of three soul rings enables the bell's evolution and propels Qin Chuan from level 71 to level 81. 53 54
Qin Chuan then uses Elder's Majesty to become Tang Chen, causing Tang Hao's Avatar and domain to collapse. Tang Hao is left weakened and unable to continue the fight. 55 56
Journey to Slaughter City
After the battle, Tang Hao takes the spiritually injured Tang San to Slaughter City in search of help. Tang Chen examines Tang San's condition and identifies the damage as more than an ordinary spiritual attack. 67
Notable Quotes
“I—WILL—KILL—YOU!” 51
“A mere level 71 Soul Sage dares speak such madness before me?” 49
Trivia
- Tang Hao's aura is powerful enough to cause spirit beasts within several miles to cower. 32
- He recognizes Qin Chuan immediately when they meet again three years after their first encounter in the Star Dou Great Forest. 48
- Although he understands that Qin Chuan's imitation of Tang Chen is false, his instincts and Soul Power still submit to the replicated aura. 55
