Background / History

Niu Gao became patriarch of the Royal Clan after it was heavily weakened by Spirit Hall’s purge. At that time, the clan’s inherited Plate Armor Giant Rhino martial souls emphasized defense but suffered from slow speed and weak offense. Six years before his confrontation with Dugu Bo, Niu Gao was still a level 75 Soul Saint and had not undergone any martial-soul mutation 25 37.

During Jin Feng’s martial-soul awakening, Niu Gao concealed the month-long golden cocoon anomaly from outsiders and remained concerned for his grandson’s condition. Once Jin Feng’s Golden Horned Behemoth hatched, Niu Gao recognized it as an exceptionally rare externalized martial soul and arranged resources and spirit-beast hunts for Jin Feng’s development 2 3 4.

As Jin Feng’s grandfather, Niu Gao recognized his grandson’s unusual potential early. He tested Jin Feng’s will through escalating soul pressure, accompanied him to the Star Dou Forest for his first spirit-ring hunt, and witnessed Jin Feng gain two soul skills from a single ring 5 6 7.

He supported Jin Feng’s Beast Scripture project and the future creation of the Beast God Sect. After Niu Ben’s martial soul mutated, Niu Gao named the evolved form the Golden Horned Scaled Rhino and endorsed having the Royal Clan cultivate the strongest version of the Beast Scripture 15 16.

Niu Gao personally cultivated the Beast Scripture after arranging concealment measures for the clan’s mutations. Within a year, his martial soul evolved into the Golden Horned Scaled Rhino and his soul power advanced from level 75 to level 78 18 19.

Royal Clan Transformation

He supports Jin Feng’s Beast Scripture and names the mutated Golden Horned Scaled Rhino martial soul after Niu Ben’s successful evolution. Niu Gao then commits the Royal Clan’s resources to Jin Feng’s plans for the Beast God Sect 15 16.

Niu Gao presents his transformed strength and the Beast God Sect’s offer to Tai Tan and the Strength Clan, seeking to expand the sect through the Beast Scripture and martial-soul evolution 63.

Titan Giant Ape Hunt and Ghost Douluo’s Death

After reaching level 95, Niu Gao holds off the Sky Azure Bull Python during the hunt for the Titan Giant Ape. He later joins Dugu Bo, Bai He, and the Royal Clan elders in surrounding Ghost Douluo, personally venting the Royal Clan’s grievance against Spirit Hall by crushing Ghost Douluo in combat before Jin Feng executes him 76 77 80 82.

Elephant Armor Sect Annihilation

Acting on Jin Feng’s orders, Niu Gao attacks the Elephant Armor Sect and personally suppresses and kills its patriarch, Huyan Zhen. He frames the sect’s ties to Spirit Hall as the reason it must be eradicated and takes Huyan Li’s head spirit bone after the massacre 88.

Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan Recruitment

Niu Gao duels and defeats Yu Yuanzhen, demonstrating the superiority of his evolved martial soul, hundred-thousand-year ninth ring, and spirit-bone configuration. The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan subsequently accepts the Beast God Sect’s Beast Scripture and martial-soul evolution 91.

Spirit City and Clear Sky Sect Conflicts

Niu Gao joins Jin Feng’s group in confronting Tang Hao and attempting to capture Xiao Wu for Jin Feng’s sixth soul ring. He later blocks Chrysanthemum Douluo’s attack on Jin Feng with ease and, after reaching level 96, helps ambush Clear Sky Sect elders who move against the Defense Clan 115 119 127.
