Background / History

Assignment to the Far North

After the Silver Dragon King senses a bloodline-related aura in the Far North, Di Tian summons the Great Beasts and selects Scarlet King to investigate. He considers Scarlet King powerful, loyal, and reliable, particularly in contrast to Bear Lord’s impulsiveness. Scarlet King receives a silver dragon scale that reacts near the target, with explicit orders to prioritize the target’s safety and bring them back unharmed 12 13.

Locating Xue Chen

Scarlet King searches the ice plains using his sense of smell and perception of energy fluctuations. Near the Ice Rift Valley, the scale begins glowing, allowing him to narrow his search. Its radiance intensifies when Xue Chen emerges from the underground ice cave with the Sky Dream Ice Worm, confirming the child as his target 22 23.

Although surprised that the being sought by his master appears to be a human child, Scarlet King trusts the scale’s reaction. He demands that Xiao Bai surrender Xue Chen, insisting that he has no intention of making an enemy of the Far North. Xiao Bai refuses, and the two beast kings begin fighting while Xue Chen leaves to seek help 24 25.

Confrontation and Negotiation

Xiao Bai’s home-territory advantage allows him to match Scarlet King’s opening attack despite their cultivation gap. The Ice Emperor’s arrival changes the balance: Scarlet King recognizes that her superior cultivation and the Far North’s amplification of her power leave him no chance of victory. Snow Emperor intervenes before she strikes and moves the dispute to the Ice Crystal Palace 25 27 28.

There, Scarlet King identifies Xue Chen as the Star Dou Forest soul beast clan’s Young Master and presents the reacting silver scale as evidence. He does not disclose the Silver Dragon King’s exact condition or the deeper secrets surrounding the child. Snow Emperor refuses to release Xue Chen on this evidence alone and demands that Di Tian come personally 28 29.

Return to the Star Dou Forest

Xue Chen accepts the scale, completing part of Scarlet King’s assignment even though the retrieval fails. Scarlet King bows to him, departs, and reports Snow Emperor’s response to Di Tian. When Bear Lord advocates confrontation, Scarlet King warns against underestimating the Far North’s rulers; Di Tian subsequently decides to go himself once his master’s condition stabilizes 29 30.

His caution does not prevent a forceful approach. He initially demands Xue Chen’s surrender and refuses to retreat before Xiao Bai, but becomes deferential when confronted by the Ice Emperor and Snow Emperor.
