Black Pearl.
Aside from the Heart Pirates' captain, whose head was worth thirty million berries, Magnus knocked out the other pirates and threw them into the sea to feed the fish.
If they woke up in time, they were lucky.
If they died, they were unlucky.
After all, Magnus was not the kind of villain who killed at the drop of a hat. If others did not provoke him, he would not provoke them. Did they not still have a chance to survive?
"A total of two hundred thousand berries!"
"What? You damn goat, why don't you just rob me?"
Though he cursed under his breath, Magnus readily paid Rocks and the others' medical fees. They were old acquaintances, after all.
Now, aside from Magnus and his group, the Black Pearl also carried Newgate and his little companions, as well as the doctor Magnus had found in town.
A doctor who looked like a goat and stood less than half Magnus's height.
Magnus remembered that the Straw Hat Pirates had encountered a similar-looking doctor in the future, though that one was probably a member of the goat's tribe or a descendant.
"So, do you want to join my crew? My ship happens to be short on a doctor right now."
"No thanks."
Doctor Goat refused without the slightest politeness.
"I don't want Kureha to skin me alive. That woman said the White Wolf Pirates could only have one doctor, and that was her."
"Hmph. When I said we should disband, that old hag was the first one to run."
Magnus curled his lip, but his eyes revealed a nostalgic look.
"Everyone's getting old, after all."
"What about you?"
Doctor Goat tilted his head at Magnus.
"You're not much younger than Kureha, are you? Even if you can still maintain your fighting strength now, how many more years can you keep it up?"
"Hahaha, I might last longer than you imagine."
Magnus pointed at his face.
"Looking at me now, do you still think I look like a seventy-year-old man?"
"..."
Doctor Goat examined Magnus seriously, then suddenly pulled out a syringe.
"Hey, hey, what are you trying to do?"
"Draw blood!"
Doctor Goat's eyes brimmed with intense curiosity.
"The way you look now is nothing like what a normal person your age should be like. If I remember correctly, you're younger now than you were fifteen years ago!"
"As far as I know, you're just an ordinary human. Devil Fruits don't extend lifespans either, so I want to know exactly what happened to you."
"If I can uncover the secret behind you, perhaps humanity's lifespan could increase by a huge margin!"
Doctor Goat said it without any reservation.
"That attitude of yours... the only reason no one has beaten you to death is because pirates are too kind."
"Because if they beat me to death, no one will treat their injuries."
Doctor Goat replied seriously.
"Puhahaha! I almost forgot. You're the genius who annoyed Kureha so much that she urged me to leave Sphinx already."
When Magnus came fifteen years ago, the goat before him had still been a shady doctor who taught himself medicine and treated people. Fifteen years later, the shady doctor's reputation had spread far and wide across the island, and many injured pirates came to him for treatment.
"You're back this time to take over Sphinx again?"
"What, you don't like that?"
"No matter how badly you did it, you still did far better than those bastards."
Doctor Goat snapped shut his medicine case.
"Let's go. Don't leave little Stussy alone in the clinic. This island is about to descend into chaos."
Doctor Goat called for the nurses in his clinic to leave.
Little Stussy?
The name Doctor Goat mentioned sounded familiar, but the system gave no response, so Magnus did not think much of it. Seventy years had passed; there was no way he could remember every person's name from the original story.
Not dwelling on it, Magnus looked toward Newgate and the others sitting off to one side of the deck.
"Well? Have you made up your mind?"
Magnus's invitation to Newgate was sincere. Though Newgate was still very weak, and limited by his age, he was even weaker than Rocks had been a year ago.
But Magnus was confident that within a year, he could raise Newgate to a level close to Rocks's. After all, Newgate's talent was no worse than Rocks's.
A crew member capable of skillfully wielding Haki would not be considered weak anywhere. Moreover, Magnus believed that as time passed, both Rocks and Newgate would only grow stronger.
He had endured all these years already. Spending a few more years training Rocks and Newgate to at least the level of Great Pirates...
That was nothing in Magnus's eyes.
"I... need to think about it."
Deep down, Newgate wanted to agree to Magnus, because these were the White Wolf Pirates, the crew he had dreamed of joining since childhood.
But when he saw his injured companions beside him, Newgate fell silent again.
He could not abandon his companions and leave alone.
"If you're worried about the companions beside you, then open your eyes and watch carefully."
Magnus merely smiled at Newgate's refusal and did not mind it.
"Fifteen years ago, I changed Sphinx. But constrained by my strength at the time, I had no choice but to compromise with some pirates."
"But things are different now."
"From today onward, no one can make me compromise."
Magnus stood up, the sea wind whipping his shirt loudly. In Newgate's eyes, Magnus was clearly not very tall, yet the aura he gave off made it impossible to look away.
One pirate flag!
Two pirate flags!
Three pirate flags!
Newgate saw it. The pirate ships around the Black Pearl gradually cleared away. A large group of pirates, as though afraid of getting caught in the crossfire, sailed their ships away, yet unwilling to miss the coming conflict, they anchored not far off.
Then, three pirate ships twice the size of the Black Pearl sailed in from afar and appeared in the harbor where the Black Pearl was docked.
"Undead Pirates!"
"Black Merchant Pirates!"
"Gargantua Pirates!"
The pirates hiding in the harbor to watch the excitement could not help swallowing when they saw the three pirate crews approaching menacingly, though excitement gleamed in their eyes.
"C-Captain, we're so close... won't we get caught in the crossfire later?"
"Shut up!"
The mohawked pirate captain shouted excitedly, "This is a clash between the White Wolf Pirates and three Great Pirate crews! Chances to watch something like this are rare. If they start fighting, it'll be worth the price even if we die!"
A corner.
A young girl with short golden hair and a white sunhat sneaked out, her face still full of dissatisfaction.
"Hmph, if Uncle Goat won't bring me out, I'll come out myself. Those are the White Wolf Pirates! If their captain takes a liking to me, I'll be able to make tons of money without even trying. Then I won't have to work so hard bandaging people and treating illnesses."
What was wrong with an old man?
Old men were the best!
Once White Wolf Magnus died, she could inherit White Wolf Magnus's fortune, and she would have more money than she could spend in a lifetime!
The girl thought innocently.
