"I hope my guess is wrong," Xiang Qian replied, his expression unusually grave. "But according to Murphy's Law, the worst possibility is often the most likely one."
Both women were startled by Xiang Qian's unprecedented seriousness. "What is the worst outcome?"
"The worst outcome is that Death is about to wage all-out war against Eternity. The abnormalities in the Hell Dimension are preparations for that war. And I am bound to be drawn into their conflict—perhaps even become the fuse that sets it off."
The two women were dumbfounded. Magik, as a Hell Lord, had to make her living on Death's turf to some extent, so there was no need to mention her. Even Jean, who possessed the Phoenix Force, was rendered speechless by the crushing weight in her heart.
Jean's fusion with Dark Phoenix had grown increasingly perfect, and her understanding of the Phoenix Force had deepened by the day. Through her vague communication with the Phoenix, she had also come to understand just how powerful the Phoenix Force truly was. Yet even the complete Phoenix Force was still slightly inferior to a cosmic-rule entity like Death.
What she possessed was merely a fragment of the Phoenix. That fragment gave her ample confidence to look down upon most powerful beings in the universe, but Death was among the tiny handful
