Background / History

Magik was Piotr Rasputin's younger sister, abducted from Earth as a child and taken to Limbo. Her disappearance could not be solved even through Professor Xavier's psychic search, leading Piotr to believe that she had likely died. In Limbo, Belasco raised her as his subordinate and apprentice while concealing his true purpose for her. 59 87

Belasco selected Magik for her exceptional magical talent. He damaged and controlled her soul through a Bloodstone, placed Chthon's dark mark within her, and intended to use her as both a sacrifice and vessel for the Elder God. 87

Her first encounter with Xiang Qian began as an attempted forced invitation to Limbo. He disrupted her teleportation and overpowered her, then discovered her connection to Piotr. When Magik later sought help against Belasco, she used her teleportation to assist Xiang Qian in rescuing Tony Stark before returning to Limbo with him. 59 73 74

During the confrontation with Belasco, Magik used the Soul Sword to sever the tether binding her soul to the Bloodstone, injuring herself in the process. She then joined Xiang Qian in defeating Belasco, finally confronting the man who had stolen her childhood and ending his rule over Limbo. 88 91

After Belasco's death, Xiang Qian guided Magik into accepting Limbo's recovering world-will, establishing her as its new ruler. She later accepted Xiang Qian as her tutor, intending to strengthen her soul and magic enough to remove Chthon's mark permanently. 94 95

Magik is a petite young woman of Eastern Slavic appearance. As Limbo's ruler, she presents herself with a deliberately cold and regal bearing, although her reactions around those close to her frequently undermine that composure. 279 280
