Chapters 1752–1776 Vol. 18 Read

Ch. 1752Spirit Water

Zhao Fu sought a way to protect Great Qin’s crops from diseases caused by the decline in heaven and earth’s origin power. He developed spirit water as a temporary treatment and ordered it distributed, while leaving crop research and a larger formation for the future.

  • Zhao Fu realized that crops needed life force to resist the diseases brought on by the decline in origin power, but Great Qin lacked enough Life Spring Water to irrigate its vast farmland.
  • Zhao Fu tested a Spirit-Gathering Formation on rice and saw diseased crops recover, but abandoned the idea of building formations across every field because it required too many materials.
  • Zhao Fu devised spirit water by enriching water with spiritual energy, adding Life Spring Water, and having the Flower Fairies bless it.
  • Zhao Fu tested the spirit water on crops and found that their diseases eased and their fruit improved.
  • Zhao Fu ordered spirit water distributed and applied periodically to protect basic crop yields while Scholars continued their research.

Ch. 1753Rainwater

Reports of disasters reached Zhao Fu as torrential rain threatened villages in Eastern Yue Commandery County, an earthquake devastated Fangsan Commandery County, and extreme heat suggested a drought in Yellow Rock Commandery County. The local officials reported the crises to the court, while villagers trusted that the emperor would find a solution.

  • An Inspector in Eastern Yue Commandery County surveyed flooding during a prolonged downpour and ordered villagers evacuated by Teleportation Array while asking that the disaster be reported to the city lord.
  • A severe earthquake struck Fangsan Commandery County, and the white-haired commandery governor dispatched soldiers to rescue people and assess the damage before drafting a memorial to the court.
  • A farmer in Yellow Rock Commandery County left his fields because the sun and heat became unbearable.
  • The village chief told the worried villagers that nearby regions faced the same conditions and that a drought was likely, saying the commandery governor had reported it to the court.
  • The farmer told his daughter that a drought might be coming, while his wife worried that their crops would die.

Ch. 1754Natural Disaster

Natural disasters struck several regions of Great Qin, prompting officials and villagers to report the dangers and evacuate while trusting Zhao Fu to respond. After receiving memorials about the disasters, Zhao Fu wondered why Great Qin’s resistance to natural-disaster attributes seemed useless.

  • A family in a village felt reassured after hearing that the court knew about their problem, and the father told his daughter stories about Zhao Fu.
  • A fierce storm spread across Nine Houses County, causing casualties, and an official sent a memorial to the Great Qin Imperial Palace.
  • Young villagers in Ring Mountain County recognized signs of a volcanic eruption and rushed home, but the eruption began before they arrived.
  • The village chief ordered the villagers to evacuate through the Teleportation Array, and they left in an orderly manner while trusting Zhao Fu to handle the disaster.
  • Fish scale people discovered a destructive water tornado near Waterhold County, and the city lord prepared to evacuate citizens and sent a memorial to Zhao Fu.
  • Zhao Fu read the incoming memorials and wondered why Great Qin’s resistance to natural disasters was not helping.

Ch. 1755Water Disaster

Zhao Fu responded to disasters caused by the weakening of the world's origin, sending powerful experts to deal with them and personally stopping the flood in Eastern Yue Commandery County. He arrived at the earthquake-stricken Fangsan Commandery County and began healing the wounded, leaving the rescue efforts underway.

  • Zhao Fu summoned Heaven and Earth Realm and Extreme Heaven Realm experts, including Shang Long, Zi Lingye, Mo Wulin, and Jue Tianling, and sent them to suppress disasters across Great Qin.

  • Zhao Fu returned to the Great Qin Empire exhausted after all the disasters had been resolved.

Ch. 1758Calamity Pearls

Zhao Fu investigated whether Great Qin could turn natural disasters into Calamity Pearls, but the proposed method would require disasters to run rampant and cause heavy losses. He then learned that the City of Calamity had grown stronger amid the disasters and went to inspect it.

  • Zhao Fu ordered Talisman Masters and Scholars to study a sealed disaster source and find a way to condense its power into Calamity Pearls.
  • A young scholar reported that formations could gather disaster power into a Calamity Pearl, but only after the disaster had caused extensive damage and with formations built across every commandery county.
  • Zhao Fu rejected the costly method and ordered the scholars to continue researching alternatives.
  • Zhao Fu reviewed reports of disaster damage across Great Qin and neighboring powers, noting that the alliance had suffered the worst losses.
  • The City Lord of the City of Calamity told Zhao Fu that the city's calamity power had greatly increased, so Zhao Fu went to inspect the glowing cube at its center.

Ch. 1759Wind

Zhao Fu discovered that the City of Calamity absorbed calamity power and tested whether its core could condense Calamity Pearls. He succeeded with a sealed earthquake disaster, then tested the method on a tornado, where absorption proved slow.

  • Zhao Fu learned that the City of Calamity had absorbed calamity power and prevented disasters across dozens of commandery counties.
  • Zhao Fu decided against making the City of Calamity Great Qin’s capital and considered splitting off its calamity power to create Calamity Pearls.
  • Zhao Fu extracted a black sphere from the cube and used it to absorb earthquake calamity power released from a sealing formation in Fangsan Commandery County, forming a Calamity Pearl.
  • Zhao Fu took another black sphere to a tornado in the border wilderness and found that it absorbed the wind disaster’s power too slowly.

Ch. 1760Calamity Spear

Zhao Fu developed the Calamity Spear to harvest calamity power without draining the City of Calamity's source, then formed a squad of Calamity Sealers to wield the weapons. He sent them to resolve disasters beyond Great Qin, leaving the city's peaceful surroundings undisturbed.

  • Zhao Fu found that forcing source calamity power from the City of Calamity's cube weakened it and risked damaging the city heart.
  • Zhao Fu planned a calamity weapon that combined calamity materials, an absorbing formation, and the light sphere, and summoned the Gongsun Zhu sisters to forge it.
  • Gongsun Zhu and the talisman masters completed the black Calamity Spear, and Zhao Fu tested it by absorbing water calamity power from a flood until the rain stopped.
  • Zhao Fu ordered 120 Calamity Spears and selected 120 of the City of Calamity's strongest people to become Calamity Sealers.

  • Several days later, people discovered the slaughter and wondered who had wiped out the stronghold.

Ch. 1766Vicious Renown

After Great Qin’s bloody retaliation made other factions fear it and covet its disaster-resolving method, their alliance sent an envoy to negotiate. Zhao Fu agreed to help only if they supplied a large amount of food, leaving the envoy to decide whether to accept.

  • News spread that Great Qin had massacred the factions responsible for killing its Calamity Sealers and could resolve natural disasters.
  • Leaders from other factions debated whether to attack Great Qin or seek its help, then sent an envoy to negotiate.
  • Zhao Fu decided to meet the alliance’s envoy and hear her proposal.

  • Zhao Fu put Great Qin’s plan to help factions with natural disasters into action, but the weakened City of Calamity could not provide source calamity power for more than 120 Calamity Sealers.
  • The Calamity Sealers resolved disasters across many lands and became revered by countless commoners.
  • Great Qin’s improved relationship with the alliance alarmed the Demon Horn Empire and the Second Wind God Empire, which began courting alliance members with benefits and promises not to invade.
  • Alliance factions accepted the empires’ invitations and openly cooperated with them, despite warnings from alliance leaders not to abandon the alliance.
  • Relations among the three empires and the alliance grew friendlier, while observers worried the calm would end when the factions next sought to expand.

Ch. 1769Insect Beasts

  • Zhao Fu led his soldiers to the cockroach nest, where they cleared out the remaining defenders and collected hundreds of Nest Stones and a vast number of insect eggs.
  • Back in Great Qin, Alasna told Zhao Fu that the army had lost several tens of millions of soldiers while killing three and a half billion insect beasts, earning enough points to reach one-third of the Dao-Seeking Stone’s cost.
  • Researchers showed Zhao Fu a life-rich stone found inside each cockroach insect beast and said they were studying how to make its Power of Life usable by Great Qin.
  • Zhao Fu ordered the researchers to report their progress and dispatched people throughout Great Qin to collect the public’s opinions and suggestions.
