The flames gave off a faint purple halo. Rather than flames, they looked more like a mass of purple fireflies gathered together.

Countless patches of moss on the ground writhed like rippling water. The humanoid shape formed from the moss grew increasingly solid, until it finally became a Daoist in green robes, his face expressionless and his hands tucked within his sleeves.

This Daoist was exceedingly ugly. His skin was as coarse as tree bark, and green moss marks could be seen on both his face and hands. This man was Yu Taizi, one of the Wanqing Sect's famed Nine Dao-Entering Experts. The Wanqing Sect had experts as numerous as clouds, and although its inherited Root of Heaven and Earth was not as conducive to entering the Dao as the Three Yang Calamity or the Book of Timekeeping, once one attained the Dao through it, one's foundation was tough and deep. Cultivation would only grow more profound with time, and its accomplishments within the Dao-Entering realm were no less than those of the other two great sects.
