Great Xiye Kingdom.
Great Snow Mountain, Great Wheel Temple. Demon-Trapping Well.
Great Master Aihui Lotus-Born was the most revered holy monk in the Great Xiye Kingdom. It was said that before Lotus-Born came into the world, the mountains surrounding Great Wheel Temple teemed with man-eating demons, as well as mountain gods and lake lords who craved bloody offerings.
Ordinary people simply could not travel through the snowy mountains, nor could they hunt in the forests when early spring arrived. Not until Great Master Aihui Lotus-Born, in order to spread the Dharma in all directions, presided over the construction of a temple atop Great Snow Mountain. Not a shred of human labor or material resources was used in the building of Great Wheel Temple.
With his supreme Dharma power, Lotus-Born summoned the mountain gods of the Twenty-Five Great Sacred Mountains and mobilized numerous Dharma protectors, joining forces to build this temple.
Later, to make daily life easier for the mountain folk near Great Snow Mountain, this high monk of boundless supernatural powers subdued the countless man-eating ghost gods in the great mountains, rivers, lakes, streams, and seas of trees with the Dharma of vows, transforming them into Dharma protectors of the Buddhist faith.
From then on, the vast snowy mountain region centered around Great Wheel Temple changed from a desolate, uninhabited deadland into a land of bliss.
Great Wheel Temple was an immensely magnificent monastery. At the foot of the mountain stood a city built by pilgrims who had come from all directions. Every morning, when the city gates opened, the city would be packed with a bustling tide of pilgrims.
Some sat cross-legged, some lay prostrate in the city, while others strolled clockwise around the city walls.
Countless men, women, old folk, and children lay prostrate upon the stairway platforms
