Within the Asura Non-Heaven Diagram, Dragon-Elephant Sage Buddha also felt immense pressure. This so-called Asura Non-Heaven Diagram was a stretch of spacetime occupied by the asura beings of the Six Paths.
Buddhism customarily divided the ordinary worlds into the Six Paths: devas, humans, asuras, beasts, hungry ghosts, and hells, also called the Six Mortal Realms. All living beings unable to attain immortality entered these realms, their lives and deaths rising and falling like a turning wheel, reincarnating without end and never finding liberation.
The Asura Path was the product of materializing this worldview and its laws. This world was occupied by countless asuras. These asuras were kin to the devas; they could be called gods, yet lacked the devas' virtuous conduct and bore some resemblance to the Hell Path.
To call them beings of the Ghost Path would be wrong, for they possessed the divine powers and might of devas;
to call them human, though they possessed humanity's seven emotions and six desires, they also possessed the power and vicious nature of devas and hungry ghosts.
Asura beings could be divided into the four births of womb, egg, moisture, and transformation, capable of producing every kind of Asura Path lifeform. This scroll of the Asura Non-Heaven Diagram depicted the myriad forms of beings in the Asura Path.
