The Danfu People were the Dragon Earl giants. The ancestor of the giant race was known as "Duke Danfu." In ancient times, this progenitor of the Dragon Earl giants had another name: Kuafu.
Among the giant race, "father" was a title of honor. Only leaders who had made tremendous contributions to their people would be called "father."
As for the character kua in Kuafu, its oracle-bone form placed "great" above "yu." "Great" resembled a powerfully built, towering man, signifying immense strength, while yu resembled clouds spreading out. A mighty, powerful man striding above the clouds seemed to describe Duke Danfu's enormous form, nearly tall enough to reach the cloudtops.
The Desolate Ruins had once been the dwelling place of the Dragon Earl Kingdom's giants. At the end of a chain of majestic mountains lay a vast ancient city in ruins. Ancient stone walls covered the ground, broken walls and crumbling remnants stood everywhere—a boundless, magnificent complex of stone palaces.
He Ping swept his gaze across the region and discovered, to his surprise, that it was protected by a wondrous aura. It seemed to form a world of its own—vast and empty, desolate and icy—buried beneath endless darkness that shrouded the immense frozen earth at the mountains' end.
Arriving here was like entering an ice age. It was bitterly cold, with no sunlight at all; the entire world was enveloped by a pitch-black sky.
Beneath the dark, frigid heavens, the frozen earth was veiled year-round by an uncanny force, heavy and oppressive. The stone palaces amid the ruins were enormous, with shattered stones scattered everywhere and colossal stone pillars... The Dragon Earl giants had been immense, and their settlements correspondingly vast. Even the rubble in these ruins resembled mountain ranges, utterly colossal.
