It seemed these golden streams of air were fragments of Zhenyu Heavenly King's thought-incarnation—the essential elements of that empty shell of a body.
Ji Changli wanted to devour and absorb Zhenyu Heavenly King. Yet even after releasing countless roots from the Lunar Mother Tree, he could not fully absorb him. Instead, he saw those streams of air flying about in every direction, transforming into runes and then into countless images that spun without end.
"Zhenyu Heavenly King, you are nothing but an incarnation. Having fallen to such a state, you have no chance of a salted fish turning over. Why struggle so bitterly...?"
Ji Changli burst into laughter and reached out again, his fingertips slicing through the void and drawing an unusual talisman.
The talisman was formed from a mass of cloud vapor. Its strokes coiled like dragons and danced like serpents, yet it also resembled bird-shaped writing. Twisted and crooked, slanting this way and that, it seemed to write the character for "human," along with the character for "bird."
The ancient Daoist sects had bird-shaped writing, believed to have been used by Daoist sages of old to offer sacrifices to Heaven or carved into talismans as a symbol of solemnity. Since birds could fly into the sky, ancient people believed they could commune with Heaven. Thus, bird-shaped writing was sacred.
The character for "human" seemed to be a mountain, while the character for "bird" symbolized the heavens. It was as though heaven, earth, and man had merged as one; this strange talisman bore the flavor of ancient times.
The instant Ji Changli drew this rune, heaven and earth seemed to unite. In the unseen depths, his thoughts almost connected with the primordial Heavenly Dao, and his mental pressure became extraordinarily powerful.
