Background / History

Qian Daoliu arrived at the back mountain of Spirit Hall with Green Phoenix Douluo shortly after Bibi Dong took in the infant Lin Tian. He chose not to interfere with her decision provided she did nothing to harm his granddaughter, Qian Renxue, describing his tolerance as compensation toward Bibi Dong. 2

As the Great Elder, Qian Daoliu monitored Bibi Dong’s actions after she became Pope. Bibi Dong regarded the Consecration Hall’s scrutiny as an obstacle to consolidating independent power within Spirit Hall. 3

Following Lin Tian’s Spirit Awakening, Qian Daoliu sought to bring the twin Spider Emperor spirit master into the Consecration Hall. He offered personal instruction and a rapid path to becoming a Titled Douluo, but Lin Tian initially chose to remain with Bibi Dong. Qian Daoliu ultimately left the offer open, promising to share his knowledge should Lin Tian seek him out. 12

Three years later, Qian Daoliu repeatedly renewed his recruitment attempts. His offers escalated from instruction by himself and the Consecrators to succession as Great Consecrator and a proposed betrothal to Qian Renxue. His underlying objective was to train Lin Tian as Qian Renxue’s guardian. 21

Lin Tian agreed to cultivate at the Consecration Hall while retaining his residence at the Pope Palace. Qian Daoliu accepted these terms and later formally became his teacher. During Lin Tian’s induction, the Angel God’s statue responded with golden light, and Lin Tian reached level 30; Qian Daoliu took this as proof that the Angel God favored him. 21 23

After Lin Tian challenged his caution toward the Clear Sky Hammer and Clear Sky Sect, Qian Daoliu regained his resolve to uphold the Six-Winged Angel’s prestige. He ordered Spirit Hall soul masters to hunt Clear Sky Sect members who refused to cooperate and publicly declared his intent to challenge the sect. 27 33 38

Qian Daoliu is described as a handsome man with brilliant golden eyes. He commonly stands with his hands behind his back and is associated with golden light. 12 21

He is protective of Qian Renxue and approaches Lin Tian primarily as a prospective guardian for her. His recruitment efforts are persistent and pragmatic, using authority, cultivation resources, succession, and marriage arrangements as incentives. 21 23

Although he distrusts Bibi Dong and fears her influence over Lin Tian, he feels indebted to her because of Qian Xunji’s past coercion. He therefore tolerates her actions so long as Qian Renxue is not harmed. 2 21
