The sea below shimmered with fine ripples of deep blue beneath the sunlight, like an entire sheet of silk wrinkled by the wind.
The hatch opened, and the sea breeze rushed in, carrying a salty, fishy scent.
Xiao Cheng narrowed his eyes as he surveyed the sea before him. The North Sea's coastline here was broad and open, with hardly any ships in sight. The water was an exceptionally profound blue, as though an unfathomable abyss lay hidden beneath it.
Han Tianyi walked to his side and looked out at the sea as well.
"This is the place." He clasped his hands behind his back, as though introducing the courtyard of his own home to a guest.
Xiao Cheng leaned toward the porthole and looked down. The sea glittered beneath the afternoon sun, and several white lines stretched across the distance—the traces of converging currents. An occasional fishing boat passed by, like sesame seeds scattered across the ocean.
"This stretch of sea?" Xiao Cheng asked. "Where is the cultivation site you mentioned?"
Han Tianyi set down his teacup. His gaze passed through the porthole toward a point on the sea, carrying a faint trace of nostalgia. "Fly another hundred li north, and there's a trench called the Blood Sea Trench."
"Blood Sea Trench? That doesn't sound like a very nice place."
