Background / History

Tang Hao lived in seclusion as Holy Soul Village's blacksmith after sustaining foundation-damaging injuries in a battle against the former Spirit Hall Pope, Chihiro Ji, six years earlier. His alcoholism and decline further worsened those injuries. After learning that Tang San possessed twin Spirits, he regained an interest in recovering his strength and restoring the Clear Sky Sect. 3 11

Drawn by the Chaos Green Lotus's extreme life aura, Tang Hao confronted Bai Shu and forcibly took a Chaos Lotus Seed from his Martial Soul. Finding its restorative effect inadequate, he considered killing Bai Shu to prevent a gifted child with a grudge from becoming a future enemy. Bai Shu instead convinced him that stronger lotus seeds could be produced after obtaining a spirit ring. 3 4

Tang Hao threatened Holy Soul Village's destruction if Bai Shu fled or disclosed their encounter. Two months later, he took Bai Shu to the Soul Hunting Forest and impatiently selected a century-old Nine-Leaf Lotus as his first spirit-ring target, caring only that Bai Shu become useful to him. He then gave Bai Shu one month to produce a more effective lotus seed. 4 5

While Tang San hunted for his own first spirit ring with Yu Xiaogang, Tang Hao watched from the shadows. He intervened when Tang San's soul-ring absorption spiraled out of control, using his Title Douluo-level soul power to stabilize the energy long enough for Tang San to recover. 11

Bai Shu later sent Xie Biyan to ambush Tang Hao outside Notting City in retaliation for the threats and coercion. Already burdened by old injuries, poison, and the backlash from his own techniques, Tang Hao was defeated despite detonating his remaining high-level spirit rings in a final counterattack. Xie Biyan then tortured and killed him with corrosive venom. 14 15 16 17

Appearance

Tang Hao is a burly man who conceals himself in a tattered black robe. During his final battle, his heavily wounded body was marked by a cracked hand, black blood, and visible internal damage. 3 4 15

Personality

Tang Hao is cold, utilitarian, and willing to threaten or kill those weaker than himself when they become inconvenient. He treated Bai Shu as a potential source of healing rather than a child, coercing him through threats against both Bai Shu and Holy Soul Village. 3 4 5

His concern for Tang San is complicated. He initially regards his son largely as a means to revive the Clear Sky Sect, yet still secretly guards him and refuses to let him be crippled during his first spirit-ring absorption. 11

Even when driven into a hopeless position, Tang Hao refuses surrender. His final response to Xie Biyan was to detonate his last spirit rings in an attempt to take his opponent down with him. 16
