Night deepened.
Konoha's streets, under the ghastly pale moonlight, looked like lifeless fish bellies split open one after another.
On the roof of an inconspicuous house, two figures clung silently to the tiles like geckos, blending into the darkness.
"Hey, Ukon, hasn't that idiot covered in eyes sent back any news yet?"
A hoarse, irritable voice sounded from behind one of the figures' heads. It was a bizarre body with two heads. The head attached to the back twisted impatiently, its pale face filled with disdain and irritation.
"Shut up, Sakon. Kidomaru has always liked to act clever."
Sakon, the dominant personality controlling the body, sounded more composed, but the gloom between his brows was even more pronounced. His crimson lips curled into a cruel smile as he licked the corner of his dry mouth.
"That stupid woman Tayuya is the same. She went to retrieve a Scroll and somehow got herself lost. Orochimaru's pawns aren't so easy to be."
"Hmph, a bunch of trash." Ukon spat. "We're not waiting. If Kidomaru dares screw this up, we'll twist off his head and kick it around like a ball. Stick to the original plan. First, we control that liaison officer named Yoshikawa Shin. Orochimaru said there are plenty of interesting 'goods' lists hidden in his residence."
Sakon nodded and said no more.
Their shared body suddenly tensed like a leopard poised to strike. With a light push from their limbs against the tiles, they became a blurry black shadow, darting through the tangled rooftops and heading straight for the imposing residence beneath the moonlight.
The Daimyo Residence liaison officer's home was heavily guarded. They had known that intelligence long ago.
However, when Sakon and Ukon landed like ghosts atop the residence's high walls, both of them frowned.
It was too quiet.
