Background / History

The God-Slaying Spear was once the weapon of War God Mu Gufeng, one of the few King Divine Artifacts capable of contending with Emperor Divine Artifacts. Li Chongxiao conspired with the Giant Beast Clan King to betray and kill Mu Gufeng in order to seize the spear. Before dying, Mu Gufeng threw the spear away to prevent its capture. It was pursued, repeatedly damaged, and eventually entered a mysterious teleportation array that carried it to Yang Chen's homeland. 1776

Its memories were initially fragmented. When Yang Chen used Soul Searching on it, he saw Mu Gufeng battling an unknown outsider before a human intervened and ambushed him. The spear escaped under its former master's orders, passed through Changxing Mountain and the Five Great Regions, and ultimately chose to disintegrate rather than fall into the hands of pursuing Great Emperors. 1613

One of its fragments became the spear tip of Yang Chen's Purple Forbidden Roaming Dragon Spear. When its scattered components were reunited, the Weapon Spirit awakened and rejected the “Purple Forbidden Roaming Dragon Spear” name, identifying itself as the God-Slaying Spear. 640 650

The spear later recovered its memories of Mu Gufeng, Li Chongxiao, and its status as a King Divine Artifact. Its hatred toward Li Chongxiao remained until Yang Chen used it to kill him. 1776 2849

The God-Slaying Spear is highly sentient—far more human-like than ordinary Spiritual Artifacts or Profound Sky Spiritual Treasures. It speaks fluently, curses, boasts, laughs loudly, and treats its own identity and reputation with intense pride. 650
