Background / History

Shinna was raised alongside Uchiha Shinmoku by her father, Uchiha Shifangtai, after Shifangtai’s brother died. Shifangtai devoted most of his attention to Shinmoku, leaving Shinna without his guidance and fostering her resentment toward both her father and Shinmoku. 1 12 23

During Shinmoku and Shifangtai’s six-year espionage assignment in Kumogakure, Shinna remained outside the village and relayed their intelligence to Konoha. When Shinmoku returned alone after Shifangtai’s sacrifice, she suppressed her reaction and immediately prepared their escape from the intelligence station. 2

After returning to Konoha, Shinna and Shinmoku restored their neglected Uchiha residence and entered the Chunin Exams together, using one of Shinmoku’s clones to fulfill the three-person team requirement. 3 4

Shinna has long black hair and is usually seen in practical shinobi clothing.

Personality

Shinna is consistently cold, terse, and emotionally guarded. She initially rejects rewards from the Third Hokage, gives minimal answers in conversation, and remains detached even around allies. 3 5

Beneath that restraint, she is observant and deeply protective of Shinmoku. She gathers urgent intelligence, suspects Anko Mitarashi’s interest in him may conceal ulterior motives, and worries when he leaves for Ryūchi Cave alone. 17 18 21

Her hostility toward Shinmoku stems from years of feeling overlooked in favor of him. She seeks to prove that, despite receiving no comparable instruction from her father, she is not inferior to him. 12 23

Kumogakure Escape

Shinna operates as the Konoha intelligence network’s relay outside Kumogakure. She reunites with Shinmoku after the failed escape operation and helps him leave the Land of Lightning. 2

Return to Konoha and Chunin Exams

She returns to the Uchiha compound with Shinmoku, helps restore their home, and enters the Chunin Exams as part of his improvised team. During the written examination, she independently uses genjutsu to facilitate cheating, later acknowledging that she acted without his knowledge. 4 5 6

Forest of Death

Shinna assists Shinmoku against Orochimaru, immediately using Sharingan genjutsu to create an opening for a decapitation attempt. She later accompanies Shinmoku and Team 8 to the Central Tower. 8 9

Conflict with Shinmoku

After her battle strategy is criticized, Shinna explains that she wants to demonstrate her worth without relying on the guidance Shinmoku received from her father. Orochimaru exploits this resentment by suggesting that killing Shinmoku would make her stronger. 12 13

Chunin Exam Match

Shinna faces Shinmoku in the formal tournament. She counters his Lightning Release with Water Formation Wall but is ultimately trapped by Four Pillar Bind and struck by Lightning Strike and Cat Rush. After losing, she confesses that Shinmoku is her only remaining family; he apologizes for the unequal affection she endured and promises to make amends. 23
