Chapter 49: Enemies Provide the Funds

Su Ke kept his head down, his brain spinning at top speed. The current situation was simply mortifying. He had invited people out to eat but hadn't brought any money. If word of this got out, heh, would he be cursed to death?

He quickly entered the Flower Picking System's space, but the electronic screen showed that the mission was not yet complete. That made sense; he had invited Liu Qingqing to eat, but since the food hadn't even reached the table, it certainly didn't count. What to do?

He needed to call for help immediately. The first person to pop into his mind was Wang Xiaogang, who was always acting like a sleazebag. But even though he had Wang Xiaogang's number, where was he supposed to make a call from? Was he supposed to abandon these three girls and go outside to find a payphone?

"Brother Su Ke, you didn't forget your wallet, did you?"

Wang Huan, sitting across from him, noticed Su Ke's strange behavior. Her voice was filled with disbelief, her eyes wide. Once she said it, even Liu Qingqing, sitting to the side, took notice. She couldn't help but shift her body slightly, as if wanting to turn toward Su Ke.

"Haha! Wang Huan, you really are sharp as a tack. You guessed right, but unfortunately, there's no prize!" Su Ke raised his head awkwardly. Facing these three girls, he decided to just go for it. He might be losing face, but he couldn't lose his composure. He shrugged his shoulders and forced a smile.

"Oh! My god!" Wang Huan slapped her forehead, rendered speechless.

"Hehe, Brother Su Ke, I was actually going to treat you!" To his surprise, not only was Liu Qingqing not the least bit annoyed that Su Ke hadn't brought money, but she even reached for her little handbag.

Su Ke felt even more depressed now. While Liu Qingqing's reaction was truly commendable—if it had been anyone else, they would have slammed the table, swept away in a huff, glared at him, and cursed him under their breath—if he let Liu Qingqing pay, he would lose all his dignity. Not to mention that he was the one who initiated the invitation, but considering Liu Qingqing was the first girl to ever confess to him, this was absolutely out of the question.

Su Ke forced himself to relax. The more critical the moment, the more he had to keep his cool. He gave an embarrassed smile to the waiter who was standing by waiting for the bill. "Just a moment, please!"

The waiter's attitude was decent enough; at the very least, he didn't offer any verbal abuse. He simply nodded at Su Ke and turned to head toward the door to greet other customers.

"Brother Su Ke, don't mind it, I..." Liu Qingqing hadn't expected this situation either. Her expression looked just as awkward as Su Ke's. She pulled a hundred-yuan note from her bag, intending to hand it to him.

Just then, Su Ke's eyes suddenly lit up. His gaze fell upon the glass door that was currently being pushed open.

"It's fine!" Su Ke first gave Liu Qingqing a faint smile, signaling for her not to worry, then quickly turned his head and waved at the three people who had just walked in.

"Li Daxing, come over here!"

The three people who entered were none other than Li Daxing, Li Lei, and that kid called Old Cat—the same ones Su Ke had dealt with at the cafeteria two days ago.

When Li Daxing heard someone calling his name, he froze for a second before looking toward the source of the sound.

When he saw that the person waving at him was Su Ke, his face, still bearing faint traces of bruising, changed drastically. Without a word, he turned to leave.

"Hey! I told you to come over here!" Su Ke's voice rose slightly, his tone turning colder.

"What do you want!" Li Daxing took a deep breath, his fists clenched tight, then released them. After repeating this a few times, he finally calmed down and shuffled over to Su Ke.

"Li Daxing?" Wang Huan and Li Yan frowned involuntarily when they saw him approach. Su Ke could see disgust in their eyes, along with a hint of panic. Who would have thought that even girls like them, who were a bit rebellious, would be afraid of Li Daxing?

Liu Qingqing, however, only glanced up once before ignoring him entirely, as if he were nothing. The hundred-yuan note in her hand remained tucked away in her palm, unnoticed.

As Li Daxing walked toward Su Ke, he was cursing wildly in his heart. Because his facial injuries hadn't fully healed and he was afraid of losing face in the cafeteria, he had dragged Li Lei and Old Cat here to eat. Who could have guessed he'd run into his nemesis, Su Ke?

Over the past two days, Li Daxing had been obsessing over whether he could have beaten Su Ke if he hadn't been drinking at the time—or at least not lost so miserably. But every time he thought about it, the image of Su Ke in the principal's office would flash through his mind.

Especially that line: "Do you believe that every time I see you, I'll beat you?" Every time he remembered that, he would recall the slight smile on Su Ke's lips, and a chill would run down his spine. That was exactly why he had tried to turn and run the moment he saw him.

Su Ke raised his head slightly and looked at Li Daxing. It was obvious that the kid's gaze was unnatural and shifty, yet he was still putting on an impatient front, trying to project the aura of the Dean's son.

"Are your injuries feeling better?" A smile bloomed on Su Ke's face. His refined features, illuminated by the sunlight streaming in, looked incredibly warm. But to Li Daxing, his heart tightened. It was this very smile—the one that had been echoing in his mind for days.

At this thought, the tension he had been holding onto collapsed like a deflated balloon. To be honest, his reply was stuttering: "Uh, they're, they're much better!"

"That's good!" Su Ke nodded and immediately added, "Can I borrow some money? Hehe, I was in a bit of a rush when I came out!"

"Sure!" As if by reflex, Li Daxing whipped a wad of cash out of his pocket and moved to hand it to Su Ke, his expression looking much more relaxed.

"No need for that much!" Su Ke pulled a single hundred-yuan note from his hand, his face full of gratitude.

Seeing Su Ke take the hundred, Li Daxing looked at him nervously and asked in a low voice, "So, can I go now?"

"Why don't you join us for a meal!" Su Ke gestured toward his table, appearing quite sincere.

"No, no need, we have things to do!" Li Daxing waved his hands and shook his head firmly. After saying that, he even nodded toward Wang Huan and Li Yan.

"We're leaving!"

"Take care!" Su Ke waved his hand, and he watched as Li Daxing, followed by Li Lei and Old Cat—who hadn't said a word the whole time—walked out without looking back.

"Waiter!" Su Ke waved at the waiter nearby, handed over the money, and received twenty-nine yuan in change.

"Brother Su Ke, does this count as extortion?" Wang Huan asked Su Ke, watching the three of them scurry away in a panic.

"I don't think so!" With the Li Daxing episode over, Su Ke felt much more relaxed. He rubbed his chin. "I told him I was borrowing the money, didn't I?"

"Are you actually going to pay him back?" Li Yan joined the interrogation, her face full of curiosity.

"That... probably not!" Su Ke frowned and thought for a long time before answering very seriously, "I think this should be called 'helping a friend in need'? No! It should be 'robbing the rich to help the poor'!"

"Pfft!" Wang Huan and Li Yan burst into laughter, which even made Liu Qingqing beam. The three of them even started singing together: "No money! No money! The enemies will bring it for free!"
