Liuxia turned around. Standing before him was a dark-skinned, muscular man dressed in a Kumogakure ninja uniform and wearing a Kumogakure Forehead Protector. He looked imposing. His eyes gleamed with a yearning for strength and a love of battle. Clearly, he was a ninja eager to fight strong opponents.
Liuxia smiled faintly. He knew his recent reputation in Konoha had drawn plenty of attention. His victory over the young clan leader of the Uchiha Clan had made him one of the most outstanding members of Konoha's younger generation.
It didn't take much thought to realize that the Council of Elders, led by the Third Hokage, was behind this. Most likely, Danzo, that sewer rat, had failed to recruit him and was now claiming he was doing it for the good of the village. On the surface, it was to make Liuxia famous and boost the effectiveness of their intimidation plan for the Chunin Ninja Exams. In reality, it was to sow discord between the Senju and the Uchiha Clan so Danzo could benefit from it! Still, the advantages outweighed the disadvantages for Liuxia. As for the grudge against whoever was scheming against him behind his back, he'd settle it sooner or later.
"That's right. I'm Liuxia," Liuxia replied, his tone confident and composed. The other man's provocation didn't unsettle him. Instead, he remained perfectly calm.
The man from Kumogakure sized Liuxia up, then nodded. "I'm Ai! I hear you're strong. I hope you'll give me a good fight at the Chunin Ninja Exams!"
Liuxia was slightly taken aback, but not by the intense fighting spirit radiating from the man named Ai. It was the name itself. If he remembered correctly, the Raikage in Naruto was called Ai. Kumogakure was second only to Konoha among the great ninja villages, and several of its Raikage had been incredibly powerful—and courageous. Kumogakure also had plenty of beautiful women.
"I'll show you the strength of Konoha, provided you don't get eliminated first."
Ai might be a powerful character from the original story, but he hadn't reached the peak of his strength yet. And even if he had, Liuxia was confident he could keep himself alive in a one-on-one fight.
Ai didn't get angry at Liuxia's words. Instead, he burst out laughing. "Good! I admire your courage and confidence. But I'll warn you: I hope your strength can back up that big mouth of yours. Hahahahaha!"
Their exchange of challenges became the center of attention in the previously noisy classroom. Gathering information seemed to be hardwired into every ninja's DNA.
In the Third Hokage's office, the Council of Elders watched through the latest monitoring equipment, their gazes as keen as hawks' as they kept a close eye on every corner of the Chunin Ninja Exams. "It's quite a surprise that the Third Raikage's son has joined the competition," Shimura Danzō said, a trace of astonishment in his voice. The spacious, brightly lit office glimmered with the light of high-tech monitoring equipment. The members of the Council of Elders sat around a table, their eyes darting across the screens as if searching for the key to victory on a battlefield.
Elder Mitokado Homura took up the discussion, his voice carrying unquestionable authority. "Indeed. According to the thorough investigations by our Intelligence Division, these Chunin Exams have drawn together many rising stars. Every one of them is a source of pride to their respective village."
The intelligence files clutched in his hands seemed to carry a heavy weight. As he spoke, he passed them around the table. Each page recorded an opponent's strength and background.
Mitokado Homura continued, "Ai of Kumogakure is famous for his astonishing strength; Yagura of Kirigakure joined the Mizukage's guard at a young age; Kitsuchi of Iwagakure is a young prodigy in Earth Release; and Sunagakure has spared no expense, sending Rasa and Pakura, both of whom possess a Kekkei Genkai."
As Elder Mitokado Homura introduced the competitors, the atmosphere in the office grew even heavier. Deep concern showed on every elder's face. They understood that facing so many formidable opponents would make winning these Chunin Exams an extraordinarily difficult battle for Konoha.
A sharp glint flashed in Hiruzen Sarutobi's eyes. He knew these Chunin Exams were not only a severe test for the young ninjas but also a stage for the great villages to measure their strength. He took a deep draw on his pipe, and as smoke curled around him, his thoughts seemed to rise with it.
"We're fully prepared, and Konoha's new generation of ninja has already shown impressive strength and potential." Hiruzen Sarutobi's voice was firm and forceful as he named several young ninjas. "Besides Liuxia, we have Nawaki, Uchiha Yan, Hyuga Hiashi, Hizashi Hyuga, and others. They're all a credit to Konoha. Shimura Danzō's brow furrowed slightly, a trace of concern in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. "Sarutobi, our young ninjas are certainly strong, but we can't let our guard down against the prodigies sent by the other villages. We must leave nothing to chance and ensure that nothing threatens Konoha's glory."
Utatane Koharu and Mitokado Homura nodded in agreement. Their eyes shone with hope for Konoha's future and concern over the upcoming exams. The village had to achieve excellent results to maintain its leading position in the Ninja World.
