Konoha Has No Reason to Exist

"All right!"

The more Sarutobi Hiruzen looked at Hyuga Kagami, the more pleased he became. The ninja world had never lacked for geniuses, but it lacked ninjas who suited his taste!

Just look at Hatake Kakashi. He was a genius and had the Will of Fire, but his Will of Fire meant loyalty to the Fourth Hokage. Even now, he still kept a faint distance from Hiruzen!

Might Guy fell short, too!

He was an elite jonin, but he simply wasn't suited to doing anything in the shadows!

Might Guy was just too damn upright. He couldn't turn a blind eye to anything!

Hyuga Kagami was different. He was young and easy to fool!

Hiruzen sighed. "Kagami, Itachi, starting now, you'll carry out your first mission: go to Kirigakure!"

"Now that Konoha has formed an alliance with Kumogakure."

Sarutobi Hiruzen wore a kind smile, though a cold glint flashed in his eyes. "Our relationship with Kirigakure has always been poor. Although the Third Shinobi World War has ended, Kirigakure remains unstable."

"We need to investigate whether Kirigakure is still planning to attack Konoha!"

There was no need to worry about Kumogakure anymore.

Sunagakure and Iwagakure shared a border.

Even if either village wanted to make a move, they would have to think twice.

Kirigakure was different. It was surrounded by the sea and had no natural enemies!

They had to stay alert!

"Yes, Lord Hokage. We understand!"

The two replied in unison.

Hyuga Kagami's brows lifted slightly. The main storyline of Naruto didn't begin until Year 64 of Konoha, so this incident had never been mentioned in the main story. But from Konoha's perspective, investigating Kirigakure's movements

was certainly necessary.

After all, Might Duy had killed four of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist!

Those were four elite jonin!

They were on the same level as Hatake Kakashi. It was easy to imagine how much Kirigakure hated Konoha. Even a surprise attack wouldn't be out of the question!

"Of course, you won't be going alone. I'll find an Anbu Ninja to accompany you. Please, be careful!"

Sarutobi Hiruzen gave them a kindly reminder. "Make sure you return safely!"

The Uchiha Itachi of before would have been moved to tears with gratitude!

But now, to avoid exposing himself,

Uchiha Itachi still expressed his gratitude, though he felt sick inside!

Forming an alliance with Kumogakure?

That peace had been built on the corpses of their own village's people!

What was there to be proud of?

They'd be better off without that kind of peace!

"We understand, Lord Hokage!"

The two answered before turning to leave. Uchiha Itachi's expression was calm, but there was a hint of disbelief in his eyes.

"Why... can he talk about making peace with Kumogakure as if it were so simple? That peace was built on the corpses of our own people!"

"That's why we need to change Konoha."

Hyuga Kagami glanced at Uchiha Itachi and said calmly, "Work hard to grow stronger. You're not qualified yet."

Uchiha Itachi nodded firmly. "I will, Kagami-kun!"

"I'll become the blade in your hand!"

"Once drawn, that blade will be unstoppable. Just give the word, and I'll cut through this rotten Konoha. A village like this has no reason to exist!"

Hyuga Kagami: "???"

Rotten Konoha has no reason to exist?

Good grief, you're seriously extreme!

In the original story, when the Uchiha Clan wanted to rebel, you wiped out the whole clan. Now that you know Sarutobi Hiruzen and Shimura Danzō are both rotten, you want to kill them both!

Hyuga Kagami declared righteously, "Rotten things don't deserve to exist. Rebuilding Konoha is essential!"

He couldn't help but marvel.

Young people were so easy to fool!

On his way home, Hyuga Kagami passed a stretch of abandoned buildings. They still looked magnificent, but they had long since been deserted.

He could send his body into the Kamui Dimension at will, entering an "untargetable" state!

Although he seemed to be in this world, his actual body had already entered the Kamui Dimension!

This ability was like a combination of an enormous spatial storage ring and elemental intangibility for self-preservation. He could even use it to trap his enemies. It was just too good!

Hyuga Kagami let out a cold laugh. "Sarutobi Hiruzen, you had plenty to do with the Senju Clan's decline!"

During the Third Shinobi World War, both the Uchiha Clan and the Senju Clan had been sent to the front lines!

One battle,

and fewer than one in ten of the clan remained!

"Damn, that's cold. He didn't even spare his own teacher's clan!"

Hyuga Kagami clicked his tongue in amazement. "Still, it's not realistic to expect someone who became Hokage to be kindhearted and indecisive."

This had nothing to do with him.

But this matter... might be worth exploiting.

The only question was... how could he prove that Third Hokage the Black-Hearted was involved?

Three days passed in a flash.

Today was the day they were to gather at the village gates and set out on their mission. Hyuga Kagami hadn't expected that when he arrived, before he could even see Uchiha Itachi or the team leader, he would run into a chilly figure!

In those eyes was a pair of crimson Single-Tomoe Sharingan, brimming with resentment and murderous intent!

"Hyuga Kagami! I'm not letting you off today!"

Uchiha Lengfeng sneered. "I know we're not allowed to kill our fellow villagers, but that doesn't stop me from challenging you!"

"Do you dare accept my challenge? I'm going to beat you until you're crawling today!"

"I'll show you that Uzuki Yugao is mine. You don't even have the right to get near her!"
