Background and History
Yomotsu first acts against Hyuga Kagami through Death God avatars. After he absorbs two of them, she attempts to occupy his body through the power left behind, but he destroys it. She vows revenge, while Kagami identifies her as the deity controlling the Underworld 128 129.
The Sage of Six Paths later helps Yomotsu obtain a body in the human world so that she can fight Kagami. Rather than attack immediately, she spends days enjoying baths, food, and clothing. She then kills Moryo, absorbs the souls of thousands in the Land of Demons, and travels to the Land of Fire 171 173 174 181.
During their confrontation, Kagami takes much of the Yomi power she unleashes, forcing her back to the Underworld. She and the Sage subsequently seek to restore her strength through the shrine maiden Miroku and the Land of Demons. Kagami intervenes; after further fighting, he takes control of the Underworld, and Yomotsu submits to serve as his representative there 176 177 179 180 188.
Yomotsu later accompanies Kagami and offers to fight Ōtsutsuki Momoshiki on his behalf. When other Ōtsutsuki move to stop Kagami’s evolution, she holds them back with a vast army of evil ghosts, though Isshiki slips past her defenses 206 211.
Appearance
In human form, Yomotsu is tall and wears a fitted black robe. She has pale skin, black hair, black eyes, and long eyelashes 171 188.
- Evil-ghost form — Her face turns blue and her appearance becomes savage, with claws and a gaping maw 180 185.
- Disembodied form — After destroying the body made for her by the Sage, she appears amid dense black smoke with lightless eyes 185.
Personality
Yomotsu treats human lives casually: she kills Moryo when she tires of him and absorbs thousands of souls after entering the human world. Her long life has left her bored, and she initially treats Kagami as an amusing possession rather than an opponent 174 175.
She is fiercely protective of her power. Losing part of Yomi leaves her furious and afraid that Kagami may eventually consume her entirely. After he takes control of the Underworld, her behavior toward him changes from hostility to eager obedience and attachment 178 188 189.
