A moment later.
Ning Rongrong, who had been squatting in the corner, slowly stood up and stretched her legs, which had gone numb. She lightly stamped her toes against the floor twice.
Xiao Wu stood as well, shaking out her arms and rolling her neck before letting out a comfortable sigh.
Their gazes landed on the tightly shut door to Zhao Linchuan's room at the same time.
After two seconds of silence, they exchanged a glance, then nodded in tacit understanding and walked toward each other.
A few breaths later, they huddled together, shoulder to shoulder, heads touching.
Ning Rongrong lowered her voice and said,
"Xiao Wu, I don't think we should be enemies."
"Exactly!" Xiao Wu lowered her voice as well, planting her hands on her hips. "Our enemy should be that 'big-boobed cat'!"
Big-boobed cat?
Well... it was a pretty fitting nickname.
The corners of Ning Rongrong's lips curled up slightly. She accepted the term and continued,
"Exactly. That big-boobed cat's figure is just too explosive."
"Not to mention your brother, a man—even I, a woman, can barely restrain myself. Just looking at those two lumps of flesh makes me want to grab them."
"If he and that big-boobed cat are left alone together, what if your brother can't hold himself back and eats her up?"
"You're right!"
Xiao Wu deeply agreed with Ning Rongrong's words. Her eyes lit up as though she had found a kindred spirit.
"My brother is so 'full of youthful vigor.' If that big-boobed cat seduces him, the two of them might half-push, half-give in and do something irreversible!"
"Let's make peace." Ning Rongrong extended her hand toward Xiao Wu, palm open and facing upward. "We'll deal with our common enemy first."
"Peace!" Xiao Wu reached out and took Ning Rongrong's hand. "We'll deal with that big-boobed cat first, then compete fairly afterward!"
"Alright!"
Ning Rongrong agreed at once. She released Xiao Wu's hand, took a step back, smoothed her skirt, then said somewhat anxiously,
"Let's hurry to your brother's room. We can't let them be alone together anymore."
"The longer they stay together, the more dangerous it gets."
With that, she was already striding toward Zhao Linchuan's room, with Xiao Wu close behind.
And so, two people harboring their own schemes came together.
One believed that she and Zhao Linchuan had already been together for five or six years. From the age of six to twelve, they had spent every day together, eaten together, and lived together. Their bond and mutual understanding were irreplaceable.
Ning Rongrong was merely a latecomer. She could never possibly be her match.
Rather than oppose her, it was better to work together against Zhu Zhuqing. After all, Zhu Zhuqing's figure was simply too unfair—so unfair that even she felt a little insecure, forcing them to unite.
The other believed that she had already confirmed her relationship with Zhao Linchuan. No matter how close Xiao Wu was to him, she would still end up drinking her bathwater.
It would be better to cooperate against Zhu Zhuqing. After all, Zhu Zhuqing's figure was too outrageous—outrageous enough to make even her feel somewhat inferior.
As the little princess of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, she had grown up amid fame and fortune. She knew all too well what men liked.
Even if she truly couldn't stop it, she still had to ensure that her position ranked above Zhu Zhuqing's.
After the earlier incident, the four of them finished dinner in Zhao Linchuan's room in remarkable harmony.
After dinner, they each washed up and returned to their own rooms to rest.
It was midnight, and the moonlight flowed like water.
Suotuo City was not entirely quiet at night. From the distant streets came the occasional clack of a night watchman's wooden rattle and the footsteps of patrolmen.
Inside the suite.
The door to Zhao Linchuan's room was quietly pushed open from outside.
Zhao Linchuan was not deeply asleep. He curled his body slightly, adjusted his position, and narrowed his eyes toward the doorway.
Moonlight outlined a slender figure. A pale aqua nightgown gave off a faint soft glow in the darkness, its hem stopping just above her knees and revealing a section of fair, smooth calves.
"Rongrong?" Zhao Linchuan's voice was somewhat hoarse. "Why aren't you asleep in the middle of the night? What are you doing here?"
"Hehe, of course I missed you." Ning Rongrong replied playfully.
She turned around and shut the door, then twisted the lock with her fingers. With a click, she locked it from the inside.
"My dear brother, you were so handsome today!"
Ning Rongrong walked toward Zhao Linchuan. Moonlight fell across her face, illuminating her slightly flushed cheeks.
"You defeated a Soul Sage-level powerhouse in one move. It completely overturned my understanding of Soul Masters."
She reached the foot of the bed and stopped, looking down at Zhao Linchuan lying there.
"How should I reward you~~?"
As she spoke, she raised a knee and climbed onto the bed. The mattress sank slightly. Ning Rongrong knelt beside Zhao Linchuan and took out a glass bottle the size of a cup from her Soul Tool.
The bottle was filled with tiny candy pellets. A colorful label on it bore the words "Popping Candy."
"Dear brother, when I went out after dinner, I specially bought you a bottle of Popping Candy..." Her voice was alluring. "And... Rongrong is very safe today~~~"
She dragged out the final note for a long, long time, like a thread of silk winding through the air before curling into Zhao Linchuan's ears.
"You can do whatever you want..."
A long while later.
In the living room.
Xiao Wu crept out of her room on tiptoe.
She wore a white silk nightgown whose hem barely covered her thighs, exposing a pair of long, straight legs.
Xiao Wu stepped barefoot across the cool floor without making a sound.
She came to Zhao Linchuan's door, took a deep breath, extended her hand, and gently turned the doorknob.
Click, click!
The doorknob would not budge.
"Huh?"
She twisted it harder, but the doorknob still would not turn.
"What is going on?"
Xiao Wu raised her brows as a bad feeling rose from the depths of her heart.
She crouched down and peered through the crack beneath the door, but the room was pitch-black and she could not see anything.
Xiao Wu then pressed her ear to the door and listened. She could vaguely hear some muffled sounds. They were unclear, but enough for her to guess what was happening inside.
No way... A suspicion surfaced in her heart. Could The Sovereign have come again?
She bit her lower lip, stood up, put her hands on her hips, and thought indignantly,
Damn The Sovereign. She ruins my plans every day. It's been several days, and I haven't gotten a turn even once!
Is she made of iron? Does she have to come every night? Isn't she afraid of squeezing dry the sugarcane my brother planted?
The angrier Xiao Wu became, the more anxious she grew; the more anxious she grew, the angrier she became. Her cheeks puffed up like an angry pufferfish.
She stomped hard on the floor to vent her frustration, but a thick carpet covered it. Her step made no sound at all—not even the slightest noise—and that only made her even angrier.
