Background / History

Tang San returned to Holy Soul Village after his school studies and told his father, Tang Hao, that he possessed a second martial soul; Yu Xiaogang had recognized it. He continued handling the household work, including cooking, laundry, cleaning, and obtaining wine for Tang Hao. 9

After Tang Hao, drunk and mistaking him for Ah Yin, assaulted him, Tang San left Holy Soul Village the following morning and never returned. 10

Personality

Tang San is persistent and highly goal-driven. He waited outside the Peony Garden for seven days while pursuing Zhao Linchuan and the Crystal Plate, then continued searching after learning that a secret exit may have been used. 21 27 28

He can be calculating and unscrupulous when pursuing something he wants. After Ning Rongrong and Xiao Wu refused to sell or lend him a metal item, he decided to steal it; he later attempted to infiltrate the girls' dormitory and was caught by Zhao Linchuan. 49 51

His ambition is particularly focused on cultivation. He seeks an Immortal Herb to elevate his Blue Silver Grass martial soul to the Title Douluo level and hints to Yu Xiaogang that Zhao Linchuan may know how to obtain or cultivate such herbs. 79 99

Story Role / Major Arcs

Departure from Holy Soul Village

Tang San's connection to Ah Yin is foreshadowed when he suddenly feels chest pain and a sense of loss while Zhao Linchuan targets the Blue Silver Emperor. 3 He later returns home, reveals his second martial soul to Tang Hao, and ultimately leaves the village permanently after Tang Hao's abuse. 9 10

Crystal Plate Pursuit

After encountering Zhao Linchuan's group in Soto City, Tang San becomes determined to obtain the Crystal Plate. Unable to enter the Peony Garden due to lacking money, he waits outside in hopes of negotiating; he remains there for seven days before realizing he may have been deceived by the use of a secret exit. 20 21 27 28

Shrek Academy and Third Soul Ring

At Shrek Academy, Tang San reaches level 30 and joins the hunt for a third soul ring in the Star Dou Forest. The encounter with the Man Faced Demon Spider leaves him transformed with eight spider lances and in need of treatment. 61 62

Soul Fighting Tournament

Tang San enters the Soul Fighting Arena with Dai Mubai and Oscar. He identifies Ning Rongrong's abnormal improvement as possibly resulting from an Immortal Herb, intensifying his own determination to acquire one. 98 99 He is later overwhelmed by Zhu Zhuqing, surrendering after her Nether Hundred Claws tear open his back. 102
