Hadrian Kingdom, a small village near Spirit City.
"Run! A Soul Master is killing people!" "Waaah, Mom, where are you?" "Xiao Bao, hide!" Cries and screams filled the entire village, blood covering the ground like a living hell.
A short, stout man with unease in his eyes turned and scanned the surroundings. "Boss, will making a scene here cause trouble?"
A gaunt, sinister-looking man dressed in black glanced back at him.
"Spirit Hall's Enforcement Team is chasing us too closely. If we don't recover our Soul Power quickly, we'll die by their hands sooner or later."
Not far away, a woman dressed in red dragged a man over with her Bloodthirsty Vine martial soul.
"Hehehe, Xiao Liu, you're too tense. Want to grab a woman and blow off some steam? Those mad dogs from Spirit Hall will die sooner or later!"
"Enough. Restore your Soul Power quickly, then leave!" The sinister man glared at the woman in red in displeasure.
"Fine, fine. Boss, you're just too cautious." The woman in red shrugged indifferently.
Boom!
A loud explosion came from the distance. "Fallen Spirit Masters, how dare you massacre a village? You're courting death!"
"This is bad. Something happened on Old Seven's side. Let's go save him!"
"Yes!" The three of them stopped joking and hurriedly ran toward the outskirts of the village.
Outside the village, an old man in a luxurious crimson robe appeared with a Purple-robed Deacon and seven Black-robed Deacons. One of the Black-robed Deacons held a one-armed man by the throat.
"All Fallen Spirit Masters deserve death. Let Angel's Radiance purify him."
The old man in red spoke calmly, then turned to look at the three people emerging from the village.
"Heh, a Red Bishop! Spirit Hall really thinks highly of the four of us, sending a Soul Saint personally. Looks like there's no escaping this." Bitterness filled the sinister man's mouth as he looked at the old man in red.
"You seven slaughtered innocents and were hunted by Spirit Hall, yet you refused to repent. You even massacred village after village. After three of your companions died, you didn't flee to the City of Slaughter, yet you still dared approach Spirit City? Kill them."
Cold light flashed in the old man's eyes as he gave the order.
"Haha, we'll die wherever we go. Third Sister, Xiao Liu, every kill is worth it!" The sinister man led the other two into battle against the deacons.
After watching them briefly, the old man in red ignored the fight and turned to enter the village, which had already fallen silent.
Seeing the blood and mutilated corpses everywhere, he continued searching with an icy expression.
"Were they all killed?" Less than the time it took to burn an incense stick later, the old man in red held a child of about two and looked at the group of deacons who had come to find him.
"Yes. All three have been executed, Lord Bishop." The Purple-robed Deacon placed one hand over his chest and bowed.
"Search again. See if anyone is still alive." The bishop handed the child to a Black-robed Deacon, then turned and continued searching.
One year later, Martial Soul City Orphanage.
"Bai Yu! You're watching the sun again? You watch the sun during the day and the moon at night. What's so interesting about them?"
A fair-skinned little girl with short hair, around four years old, approached with two boys her age and questioned a boy who looked about three, sitting on the edge of a flower bed.
"Tch, Hu Liena, what does a little brat like you know? I'm observing the Laws of Heaven and Earth and comprehending the path of yin and yang."
The little boy, Bai Yu, lazily turned his head and looked helplessly at Hu Liena, who always came to trouble him whenever she had nothing better to do.
"Hmph, keep bragging. You're just watching the sun, yet you talk about laws and all that. And who are you calling a little brat? Call me Sister Na! Brother, Yan, hold him down! I'm going to teach him a lesson!"
Hu Liena put one hand on her hip, pointed at Bai Yu with the other, and shouted to the two children beside her.
Bai Yu was one of the two survivors of the village massacred by Fallen Spirit Masters a year ago. The other was older and had awakened his martial soul a few days ago, only to discover he had no Soul Power.
However, he had a good relationship with the uncle who cooked in the cafeteria and had gone off to learn how to cook. Bai Yu was still young, only three years old, and had to stay here for another three years. Everyone had a bright future ahead of them!
This was Bai Yu's second life. In his previous life, he had suffered from congenital heart disease since childhood. Fortunately, his family was well-off, and his father and older brother were good at making money, so he never needed to work.
Before his transmigration, he had been traveling in Chengdu. He bought a purple-gold, straight-blade-shaped pendant from a stall on an antique street, then read a Soul Land 2 novel at his hotel that night and got so angry he suffered a heart attack.
The name Bai Yu had no particular meaning. It was simply because, when he was born in this life, his father caught a large fish with white scales. Since his surname was Bai, he was named Bai Yu.
Meng Po's soup had probably been watered down. Under the stimulation of the Fallen Spirit Masters' bloody massacre, Bai Yu awakened the memories of his previous life at the age of two and fainted on the spot.
When Bai Yu woke up again, he was already in the Martial Soul City Orphanage.
The memories of his previous life, the scattered memories from before he turned two in this life, and the purple-gold pendant he had bought all appeared in his mind, transforming into a blade named Hongming.
The blade had also brought him something that looked like both writing and a painting, called the Law Codex. It left his two-year-old mind muddled and his head splitting with pain.
The feeling of getting another chance at life, coupled with the little girl beside him who kept chattering nonstop, finally became too much for Bai Yu to bear. He flailed an arm at random.
Then came a crisp slap. Time seemed to freeze, and what followed... well, it could only be called a sleepless night filled with howls.
"Don't, please! I surrender! Hello, Sister Na! Goodbye, Sister Na!" Bai Yu turned and ran, but he was ultimately too late and was pinned to the ground.
"You still dare run? Hold him down, butt up! Today, I'm going to spank him until it swells!"
Yan and Xie Yue held him down while snickering. "Sorry, brother. We're heartbroken too!"
"Come on, it's been a year already. You've beaten me up several times. Shouldn't this be over by now?" Bai Yu rubbed his aching backside and stood up, looking at Hu Liena.
"Hmph, I'm not that petty. I only came to play with you today. Did you watch the martial soul awakening three days ago? I really want to awaken a powerful martial soul." Longing filled Hu Liena's bright eyes.
Yan turned to Hu Liena with a fawning smile. "Don't worry, Nana. You'll definitely awaken a powerful martial soul and become a genius with Innate Full Soul Power."
Xie Yue shook his head. "I'm not asking for that much. I'll be satisfied as long as I have Soul Power."
"Don't worry. The three of you will have Innate Soul Power of no less than rank eight. That's my blessing for you." Bai Yu smiled confidently.
"You said it. If our martial soul awakening two years from now leaves us below rank eight, we'll teach you a lesson." Hu Liena happily waved her little fist.
"Of course!" Bai Yu smiled, but inwardly grumbled, How could you possibly be below that? You're Innate rank nine, or perhaps nine and a half? The two of them are definitely above rank eight too. Otherwise, how could you be called Spirit Hall's Golden Generation?
"Hehe, thanks for your blessing, Bai Yu. Today, we'll let you play with us."
Bai Yu refused without a second thought. "No. I have things to do."
The Law Codex was like flowers seen through mist, obscure and difficult to understand. After watching the sun and moon for a year, he had only barely grasped a hint of the path of yin and yang. How could he have time to play?
"No, you have to come. If you don't, we'll beat you up!" Hu Liena grabbed Bai Yu directly and pulled him to his feet.
Helplessness filled Bai Yu's face. "Fine, fine, I'm coming. What are we playing, anyway?"
"A Soul Master game. Do you know how to play? Want us to teach you?"
"None of us have even awakened our martial souls. What Soul Master game? Childish!" The four of them noisily headed off into the distance.
