The World Martial Arts Tournament's junior division came to an end.
Trunks won the championship without a hint of suspense, while Son Goten settled for second place.
Next came the adult division's drawing of lots.
"Kid, this time I'm definitely drawing you. I'll show you the terrifying results of my seven years of hellish training!"
Vegeta sidled up to Qin Feng and made his boast with an arrogant grin.
"Vegeta, can you give it a rest?"
Qin Feng glanced sideways at him, full of disdain. "I'll put it this way: with your talent, you could train for another hundred years and still not reach my heels. Got it?"
Vegeta's talent was undeniably top-tier, but Qin Feng had a system cheat.
Anyone who came looking to get beaten every day had to have a screw loose.
"Tch, keep putting on a show."
Instead of getting angry, Vegeta looked even more pleased with himself. "Once we're in the ring, I'll teach you how to behave."
"Sure. I'll be looking forward to seeing you embarrass yourself." Qin Feng nodded perfunctorily.
The results of the draw were announced soon after.
As it happened, Qin Feng and Vegeta had both drawn number ten!
"Damn it! How did you two end up matched against each other?"
Son Goku's face fell, and he was deeply displeased.
He'd come all the way back to Earth just to fight Qin Feng.
But Vegeta had beaten him to it in the very first round.
"Sorry about this, Kakarot!"
Vegeta clenched his fists and roared with laughter. "You won't get a chance to fight him. I'll completely wreck him in the first round!"
"Ugh."
Qin Feng looked at Vegeta as if he were an idiot. "You've got terminal delusions. I recommend immediate cremation."
Where had this guy gotten such baffling confidence?
Qin Feng had beaten him one-handed seven years ago, and now he thought he could win?
Did he think Qin Feng had spent the past seven years sleeping?
"Competitors, spectators!"
"The adult division of the twenty-fifth World Martial Arts Tournament is about to begin!"
"First match: Krillin versus Yark!"
The blond-haired announcer's spirited voice rang out across the arena.
Thunderous cheers erupted from the stands.
"Lucky me. I didn't draw one of those freaks like Goku."
Krillin let out a long breath of relief.
As long as he avoided the Saiyans and Piccolo, he'd be sure to win the first round. At least he wouldn't have to embarrass himself.
His opponent, Yark, was just an ordinary, burly man who'd scored a little over seventy points on the punching machine.
Just as expected, Krillin easily claimed his first victory.
Among ordinary people, he was unquestionably top-tier.
The second match began soon after.
Son Gohan faced Kibito, the Supreme Kai's attendant.
"Mr. Son Goku, we may need to make use of your son in a moment."
"Please rest assured, we mean him no harm. I must ask all of you not to interfere!"
Supreme Kai Shin suddenly walked over to Son Goku and spoke in a low voice.
Son Goku furrowed his brows.
He had no idea what the short guy was up to.
Still, he couldn't sense any hostility from him.
"Fine,"
Son Goku replied casually.
If the two of them tried anything, he'd step in at once.
"Ding! The system has triggered a choice mission!"
"Option one: Stop Majin Buu from being unsealed. Reward: Supreme Kai Identity Card!"
"Option two: Indirectly help unseal Buu, then defeat him. Reward: One Z Sword!"
"Option three: Help unseal him, then completely annihilate Majin Buu. Reward: Unlimited regeneration that surpasses Kid Buu's!"
The cheat system's voice rang out right on time.
"Here we go."
Qin Feng glanced over the mission panel.
He dismissed option one immediately.
He wouldn't take the pathetic, cowardly role of Supreme Kai even if they paid him.
The Z Sword from option two was a piece of junk, too. Apart from having an old lecher sealed inside, it was useless in a fight.
Using a cold weapon to fight people in the Dragon Ball World was a joke.
Only the reward for option three was tempting.
Regeneration surpassing Kid Buu's!
Kid Buu could come back at full strength as long as even a single cell remained, and he never ran out of energy.
If Qin Feng's regeneration was even more absurd, then unless he faced the God of Destruction's rule-based power that specifically countered regeneration, he'd be practically immortal.
"Option three. I'll kill Kid Buu."
Qin Feng made his choice without hesitation.
In the ring.
Son Gohan and Kibito stood facing each other.
"Son Gohan, stop holding back and show me all your power!" Kibito shouted provocatively.
He hadn't come to test their strength, but he was curious about how powerful these lower life-forms really were.
"You want to see? Fine. I'll indulge you."
Son Gohan's gaze sharpened. Since his identity was about to be exposed anyway, he might as well have a proper fight.
"Haah!"
Son Gohan clenched both fists.
Rumble! The entire ring shook violently.
Thick blue lightning crawled across the ground like raging serpents.
Though he'd let his training slide over the past seven years, he had still trained hard now and then after his father and Vegeta died.
His strength had long since broken through the limits of a Super Saiyan!
"Ha!"
With a roar, brilliant golden energy erupted around Son Gohan.
A violent wind whipped up!
Blue lightning crackled wildly!
His golden hair stood on end!
Super Saiyan 2!
"Impossible! How could a lower life-form possess such terrifying power?!"
"That energy... It even surpasses Lord Supreme Kai's!"
Kibito stumbled back in terror, his face pale.
He'd always looked down on humans. Today, they'd given him a hard slap in the face.
"Gohan's pretty impressive!" Son Goku said in delighted surprise.
He knew his son was lazy better than anyone. He hadn't expected Gohan to reach the threshold of Super Saiyan 2 on his own in the seven years since they'd last met.
"Tch! That's all he's got. If he'd put in the effort, he'd be far stronger than this," Vegeta sneered from the sidelines, his voice dripping with envy.
The instant Son Gohan powered up,
Babidi's two puppet minions, Yamu and Spopovich, lunged at him from the corner of the ring like hungry wolves.
"Everyone, please cooperate with me and don't move!"
Supreme Kai Shin turned and called out, then immediately raised both hands, ready to use his psychic powers to hold Son Gohan in place.
Whoosh!
Qin Feng appeared out of thin air and seized Shin's arm in a vice grip.
"What are you doing?!"
Shin was horrified. He struggled desperately, only to find that Qin Feng's hand was as immovable as an iron clamp.
They'd agreed he wouldn't interfere. Why wasn't this guy playing by the rules?
"You just need to find a magician. Why go through such a roundabout process?"
"Put simply, if you two useless clowns didn't keep jumping out to make yourselves look important, Majin Buu would never get unsealed," Qin Feng mocked without a hint of restraint.
In the original story, those two were nothing but dead weight who ruined everything.
"But..." Shin was sweating profusely with anxiety.
"Quiet. From now on, all you have to do is lead the way, you useless god."
Qin Feng flung his arm away.
In the ring, free from Shin's control, Son Gohan spun around and knocked Yamu and Spopovich flat with two punches.
Seeing that the situation had turned against them, the two puppets scrambled up and took off into the air.
"They're getting away! We have to follow them and find where Majin Buu is hiding!"
"If you want to help, come with me!" Shin shouted anxiously, then hurried after them.
"Sounds exciting. I'm going to check it out!"
Without a second thought, Son Goku followed.
Piccolo, Krillin, Son Gohan, and Kibito hurried after him as well.
Qin Feng needed to complete the system mission, so naturally, he followed them too.
