Background / History

Kudo Shinichi was forcibly given APTX4869 by a black-clad organization. Rather than dying as intended, he survived but was reduced to a child’s body, adopting the identity of Edogawa Conan while continuing to investigate the organization and solve cases through Mouri Kogoro. Lin Maoxian later identifies the connection between Conan and Shinichi after observing Conan’s role in Mouri’s deductions. 7 13 17

Lin arranges a staged abduction using Yukiko disguised as “Fumiyo Edogawa” to expose Conan’s identity. Conan initially believes Fumiyo is an enemy connected to the organization, escapes her car, and seeks help from Professor Agasa, but is captured after Agasa is absent. 13 14 16

After Yukiko’s disguise is revealed, Lin tells Shinichi about the organization, its alcohol-based codenames, and APTX4869’s history. He also reveals that Chinese liquor Laobaigan can temporarily alleviate the drug’s effects. 17

Shinichi uses the temporary antidote to return to his original body and meets Ran at the Beika Center Building’s observation restaurant, promising that he will return after resolving his case. He later reverts to Conan and is returned to the Mouri Detective Agency for safety while continuing to investigate the organization. 18 26

Appearance

Conan appears as a young child, concealing his identity as the teenage detective Kudo Shinichi.

He is also cautious about his secret identity and quickly becomes suspicious of Lin Maoxian’s interest in himself, Mouri Kogoro, and Yukiko. Once his identity is exposed, he worries primarily about the danger that may reach Ran, Mouri, Professor Agasa, and others close to him. 7 9 11 14

Despite his small body, Conan acts decisively under pressure. He attempts to subdue Fumiyo, escapes captivity, infiltrates Professor Agasa’s home, and tries to stop Lin before the latter can harm the professor. 13 15 16
