Background / History

The Myriad Demon Sect governs territory that includes the outer jungle where Chen Lin first encounters cultivators. Even cultivators seeking materials there fear retaliation if transformed demons of the sect detect them. 5

It is a top-tier power of the Nanli Continent, standing above second-rate sects such as Forget-Emotion Valley. 29 The sect has seventy-two demon branches, though it has declined for roughly a century: its disciples have worsened generation by generation, and it has been suppressed by human cultivators. 13

The sect recruits promising beasts approaching the Xiantian Realm, particularly those with Heavenly Demon bloodlines or innate divine abilities. Its recruitment standards have been lowered because of its decline. 13

Headquarters

The sect is situated among countless cloud-shrouded cliffs, ancient forests, waterfalls, jade towers, pavilions, and grand palaces. Lightning and thunder flash within the clouds above its mountain complex. 14

Its central ceremonial plaza spans nearly one hundred acres, contains strange statues and an altar, and houses the Heavenly Demon Blood Pool. 14

Seventy-Two Branches

Each of the seventy-two branches possesses its own peak and competes for limited cultivation resources. Higher-ranked branches receive priority, while lower-ranked branches may lack enough resources even for their masters and established powerhouses. 19

Disciple hierarchy

New disciples are divided into personal disciples, registered disciples, and outer-sect disciples; their monthly treatment differs drastically. Personal disciples receive thirty spirit stones and ten spirit pills per month and are exempt from sect missions. 19

Outer and registered disciples of limited aptitude are considered “farmed” disciples. They must reach the Sea-Opening Realm within thirty years or face enslavement in mines, or having their bodies and souls harvested for pills and artifacts. 23

Recruitment and Bloodline Testing

Heavenly Demon Blood Pool Cleansing

The sect holds the Heavenly Demon Blood Pool Cleansing once every fifteen years. Beasts who survive may qualify to cultivate as demons and join the sect, while failure means death. 15

The Blood Pool contains the essence blood of fallen Heavenly Demons. Combined with the sect’s formation, it can stimulate potential, awaken bloodlines, break bloodline shackles, and potentially awaken innate divine abilities; it does not directly increase cultivation. 15

• Survivors who condense Heavenly Demon phantoms are evaluated as superior candidates for inner-sect admission. 17

Sect restriction

All newly admitted disciples who are not selected as personal disciples receive a sect restriction. It activates and destroys a disciple’s soul if they harm the sect or attempt to defect. 19

The restriction is identified as the Spirit-Binding Restriction, a unique restraint of the Myriad Demon Sect. 20

Practices and Culture

The sect operates according to an openly brutal survival-of-the-fittest culture. Strength determines status, and weaker disciples can be extorted, exploited, harvested, or treated as cultivation resources. 19 22 23

The Life-Death Arena is used to settle irreconcilable grudges between disciples; combatants enter at the risk of death. 14

Demon cultivators within the sect’s marketplace trade cultivation materials, artifacts, talismans, and captives. Human cultivators may be sold as slaves or cauldrons, reflecting the hostility between the Human and Demon Races. 26 27
