Chapter 24
When he returned to the Living District, the streets were deserted.
Lynn made his way through the streets and alleys with practiced ease and arrived at a corner.
There stood a small house surrounded by blooming flowers, the residence of his beautiful teacher, Rosalind.
"Come in, Lynn."
Lynn had just stopped outside the door and was about to ask the flowers planted in the courtyard—
When a soft floral fragrance drifted over on the breeze, accompanied by a gentle woman's voice. It was Rosalind.
He pushed open the door and walked along the stone path through the courtyard.
The flowers around him swayed gently, giving off a rich fragrance.
Less than half a year ago, he had known nothing about these flowers and plants, but after nearly half a year of study, he could now recognize more than half of them.
The mystery and profundity of the Wizard World had also gradually seeped into his life without him realizing it.
As he entered the room, Lynn's gaze immediately settled on Rosalind, who was seated in one corner.
She was still wearing that elegant wizard's robe, which cleverly concealed her graceful figure.
Her long golden hair curled naturally over her shoulders, faintly revealing the smooth, delicate neck beneath it.
Rosalind sat at a bar in the room, gently closing a book with her slender fingers. Her lips curved slightly as she slowly sipped milk tea.
She lightly stuck out the tip of her soft tongue and licked her lips. Only after finishing the tea did she turn to look at Lynn.
Her face was as gentle as jade. Her full figure and captivating smile filled the room with warmth and kindness, making her seem like a kind older sister next door.
Whenever Lynn saw her smile, his mood could not help but lighten.
Especially in this world of Dark Wizards, where eight out of ten wizards looked bizarre. Even that scar-faced Wizard Drey could be considered one of the better-looking ones.
By comparison, Lynn felt that becoming the disciple of someone as gentle as Rosalind was simply a stroke of incredible luck.
"Sorry, Lynn. I was delayed by some matters over the past half year."
Rosalind parted her red lips, her voice soft and carrying a trace of apology.
Hearing his teacher apologize made Lynn feel even more fortunate.
He knew that if it had been another wizard, they likely would not have offered their apprentices any apology at all.
"It's all right, Teacher."
Though his feelings were somewhat complicated, Lynn remained respectful on the surface. His tone was gentle, without the slightest impropriety.
"Have you read the books I gave you? And... your current level of strength..."
Rosalind began asking, then looked slightly surprised midway through. "You're already a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice. It seems I came out at just the right time..."
Lynn had already been a First-Level Wizard Apprentice when he first entered The Furnace, so his starting point had been far ahead of others.
After half a year, advancing to a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice was faster than most, but not particularly abnormal. It merely put him in the range of a minor genius, which was understandable.
"I've finished all the books Teacher gave me and gained a preliminary understanding of Nature Wizards..."
Lynn answered truthfully. He did not elaborate on his current level and merely nodded.
Perhaps out of self-protection, he had no intention of exposing his talent.
After all, this was the world of wizards. Even though his teacher appeared gentle as water, Lynn clearly understood that he was in a Dark Wizard domain filled with undercurrents. Thus, he remained vigilant and guarded at all times.
"Mhm." Rosalind nodded lightly, then tested Lynn's understanding of the books and confirmed that he had indeed mastered their knowledge.
"Not bad. Even without my guidance, you didn't waste your time."
"Mhm..."
Rosalind murmured softly, seeming to ponder something as one of her pale, slender fingers gave a gentle point.
The next moment, a vine suddenly grew from the floor and slowly stretched toward a corner of the room.
The vine climbed up the wall, all the way to somewhere on the second floor, before slowly returning.
At that moment, a Crystal Ball wrapped in the vine, glowing with a blue-green light, slowly descended before Lynn.
"This is both my apology to you and a small celebration for your breakthrough to Level 2 Wizard Apprentice. Take it, Lynn."
Rosalind smiled lightly, her features picturesque. With a casual wave of her hand, the vine immediately extended toward Lynn.
Hearing this, Lynn was startled and nearly overwhelmed by the favor.
He instinctively stretched out both hands and accepted the Crystal Ball.
He had originally thought his teacher's apology was already a gift in itself. He had not expected her to give him an actual item as well.
Although he still did not know the Crystal Ball's specific purpose, he knew that as an item from an Official Wizard, even a trivial plaything would be precious enough for a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice like him.
"This is a Crystal Ball. It can measure mental power, physical condition, spell power, and so on. If it were an intact version, even an Official Wizard would feel some pain at giving it away. But the one in your hands is considered defective..."
Rosalind explained to Lynn.
As Lynn listened to Rosalind's explanation, his heart jolted. Wasn't this function similar to that of the Spell Testing Room?
"Teacher, this Crystal Ball's functions seem very similar to the Spell Testing Room..."
Lynn asked instinctively.
Rosalind gave a light laugh. "That understanding isn't wrong, but the true purpose of the Spell Testing Room is something apprentices like you are still far from fully comprehending..."
She paused, then continued, "In comparison, this Crystal Ball is just right for you. Its power is limited, and it cannot measure the mental power or spell strength of any Official Wizard, so it suits you perfectly. Take it back and study it. You should gain something from it."
Lynn nodded, gradually feeling relieved.
Indeed, if such a thing had truly been designed for wizards, he, as a Level 2 apprentice, would not have been able to use it at all. Since it was defective, it suited him better instead. At least he could put it to some use.
Of course, he would still have to slowly figure out how to use it himself.
Having given Lynn a small gift, Rosalind seemed to feel a trace of satisfaction as well.
She coughed twice, her expression gradually turning serious, and continued:
"All right, Lynn. Let's continue the topic from half a year ago."
"Since you already have a certain understanding of Nature Wizards, I won't say much more about the basics. I'll give you a simple overview."
"We Nature Wizards differ somewhat from Elemental Wizards and Bloodline Wizards during the apprentice stage, but the gap is not great. It could even be said that the cultivation methods of Nature Wizards and Elemental Wizards are closer, since Bloodline Wizards need to inject all kinds of bloodlines to enhance their abilities..."
"You should have read about all this in the books, so I won't repeat it at length. Now, let me tell you about the mysteries of us Nature Wizards after the apprentice stage, after becoming Official Wizards..."
