Chapter Thirty-Two

Within Night Shadow Bunker, numerous figures had gathered together. The sorcerous fluctuations emanating from them were powerful and terrifying; they were all Official Wizards.

"Over the past half month, our apprentices' losses have been somewhat excessive. It seems The Furnace's reinforcements have arrived. But what puzzles me is why the quality of The Furnace's reinforcements is so high. Why weren't they assigned to the regular army, instead being sent out as reinforcements?"

A wizard from Night Shadow Bunker said with a frown, his expression revealing a measure of confusion.

"I personally captured a few and dug into their heads to find out. It was that little girl from The Furnace causing trouble. She went back to The Furnace and brought that batch of Wizard Apprentices over."

Another wizard explained with a sneer.

"So that's how it is."

The other wizards nodded one after another, seeming to understand the truth of the matter.

"Still, it doesn't matter how many apprentices die. The Furnace is wasting time with us here, trying to use our lives to train their troops. That suits us perfectly! Heh, that damned old bastard wants us to serve as whetstones for his students, so he can't blame us..."

A voice with an obviously more powerful aura rang out coldly, carrying unquestionable authority.

The speaker was none other than the Lord of Night Shadow Bunker, a Level 3 Great Wizard!

His words were oppressive enough to send chills down one's spine.

"Lionheart Knight, when will the people from the Bitter Heart Sect arrive?"

The Lord of Night Shadow Bunker turned and looked coldly at the wizard beside him, asking in a deep voice.

That figure differed from the other wizards around him. His blood and vitality were exceptionally powerful, his muscles as solid as steel, and intense bloodline power radiated from his body.

He was the Lionheart Knight, who had murdered his master and defected from White Heart Tower. His status was anything but ordinary.

He stood there with deep, sharp eyes. His aura was equally formidable, not inferior to the Night Shadow Lord beside him in the slightest.

Just as the Lionheart Knight was about to speak, an enormous dragon roar suddenly came from outside, making every wizard's gaze sharpen at once.

"Gather!"

Accompanied by the majestic roar of a dragon, the entire stronghold swiftly fell into orderly formation.

The Official Wizards immediately organized their forces, while the many Wizard Apprentices quickly packed up their belongings and quietly awaited further instructions.

Lynn blended into the crowd, deliberately standing somewhere inconspicuous as he silently watched and listened.

"According to the plan, we will join up with another stronghold and launch an attack on the left flank of Night Shadow Bunker. Move according to your respective groups, maintain formation, and do not leave your teams without authorization..."

The Official Wizards clearly conveyed the battle arrangements, without forcibly breaking apart the apprentices' existing teams.

Clearly, a certain degree of rapport had already formed within each team, and disrupting them by force would instead affect their coordination.

Thus, Lynn, Colin, and Sonia remained in the same group.

However, this time their team was incorporated into a larger operational formation. Several other teams were added as well, forming a sizable apprentice detachment that advanced together toward Night Shadow Bunker.

After the plan was briefly laid out, an Official Wizard in a long robe slowly stepped forward.

His appearance was extraordinarily bizarre. His entire face was perfectly smooth, with no eyes, nose, mouth, or even eyebrows in sight, as though the skin of his face was merely a layer of disguise casually stitched over his skull.

A beetle-like creature rested on his shoulder. It gently vibrated its wings, producing intermittent, distinctive syllables, as though it were speaking some special language.

"&%¥#..."

When the Official Wizard opened his mouth, the syllables he produced were naturally in the wizard language.

This language required the expenditure of mental power not only when recited during spellcasting, but even when apprentices merely listened to it in order to understand.

Yet this time, the wizard's incantation language seemed to have entirely surpassed the apprentices' range of comprehension.

To their ears, those syllables were like heavenly scripture, utterly meaningless.

In Lynn's words, it was like making a child who had just learned elementary Chinese struggle to translate profound and obscure classical prose...

As the final syllable fell, a dazzling and immense silver-white radiance burst from the wizard's body, instantly shrouding the entire stronghold and covering every Official Wizard and Wizard Apprentice.

Lynn discovered that all kinds of strange symbols and markings had begun to emerge beneath their feet, while silver-white light enveloped everyone within.

Though the symbols and markings appeared unfamiliar, Lynn was not completely ignorant of them—because he had seen similar patterns in the teleportation array they had taken when coming to Emerald Island Forest.

Whoosh!

As the light abruptly flared, everyone seemed to be violently pulled by an invisible force. In the blink of an eye, they had been teleported to a distant location.

During the teleportation, Lynn felt a stabbing pain spread through his mind. His mental state was violently distressed, as if it were being torn apart, and his stomach churned wildly as well.

It felt as though he had undergone countless rapid spins, the dizziness nearly knocking him down.

Clearly, this hastily cast sorcerous teleportation was far less stable than the carefully constructed teleportation array outside The Furnace.

After an unknown amount of time, the shifting lights and shadows before his eyes finally stopped.

Lynn staggered as he landed, nearly falling straight to the ground.

Suppressing the turmoil in his stomach, he raised his head and looked around. The scenery surrounding him had changed completely—they had arrived at the edge of Emerald Island Forest.

Behind them lay an endless emerald-green forest. Not far ahead stood a cluster of towering, black castles.

Every one of those castle buildings was as black as the night, emanating a cold, oppressive aura.

Above this cluster of castles floated an enormous black Sky Curtain, blotting out the heavens like thick ink.

Obviously, this cold and eerie cluster of buildings before them was the location of Night Shadow Bunker.

As Lynn secretly surveyed the area, he noticed teleportation lights flashing continuously around them. People from other branches of The Furnace were arriving one after another.

Roar—!

Suddenly, a soul-shaking dragon roar descended from the heavens.

Lynn looked up and saw an elegant, slender Black Dragon sweep across the sky.

When its enormous wings spread open, they seemed capable of blotting out the entire sky. An immensely powerful pressure radiated from its body, like a force of destruction crushing down upon Night Shadow Bunker.

As the Black Dragon circled and soared through the air, its wings stirred currents like black smoke, scattering them across the night sky.

In mere moments, the entire sky had been dyed a murky gray, shrouded in an ominous aura.

Upon the elegant Black Dragon stood a female wizard. Her face was flawless and luminous, while her violet eyes were incomparably mysterious, like stars amid the dim world that drew everyone's attention.

Lynn knew that this witch was the Lord of the Furnace's genius young female student—the very culprit who had issued the order forcing wizard students like them to take part in the battle!
