Background
Luo Mu was raised in Dragon Gate Town by his father, the physician Luo Yanshan, after his mother died while he was young. Bright and gifted in medicine, he learned most of his father's skills before adulthood and attended the local cultivation school for ten years. Despite this grounding, he refused to accept a mortal lifespan and became determined to cultivate. 1
His childhood friend Xiao Ling'er became his fiancée after their fathers arranged their marriage. Their paths diverged when Xiao Ling'er entered Qi Refining naturally while Luo Mu repeatedly failed to cultivate despite consuming spirit herbs. Luo Yanshan died obtaining a spirit herb for him, leaving Luo Mu burdened by grief and guilt. 2
After eventually entering Qi Refining, Luo Mu pursued admission to Jinxiu Academy to study alchemy, artifact refinement, formations, and talismans. He concealed his identity as a poison cultivator because poison cultivation was despised and could make him a target. 33 53
He later sought entry into Wanfa Sect to fulfill his late father's wish, even though the Nine Transformations Demon God gave him traits associated with demonic cultivation. His time there ultimately ended; Luo Mu ceased to recognize himself as a Wanfa Sect disciple. 135 296 306
During his rise in the Black Horn Region, Luo Mu bound powerful cultivators with Soul Lock Runes, gradually turned them into subordinates, and developed the force that became Sinful Domain. He later organized its factions, created the Law Enforcement Hall under Han Yue, and established institutes for cultivation talents such as formation masters, alchemists, and artifact refiners. 159 337
As Domain Lord, Luo Mu expanded beyond Southern Peaks, clashed with the Gu Clan, Flood Dragon Clan, Cheng Clan, Demonic Sect, and Pilgrimage Sect, and became notorious across the cultivation world. He ultimately rescued Luo Yanshan, Xiao Ling'er, Yang Qing, and Min Tian from the Pilgrimage Sect's attempt to use them as hostages. 540 621 624
Appearance
Luo Mu is a lean, handsome young man usually dressed in black robes. His ordinary appearance in his early cultivation days often led opponents to underestimate him. 21 149 264
- Long hair flowing behind him during breakthroughs. 149
- Black Demonic Marks that can manifest as demonic dragons. 348
- Demonic wings revealed after refining Saint Lord Remains. 293
- Emerald-green light wings after achieving great completion of the third layer of the Nine Transformations Demon God. 510
- Carries a black robe modified with a miniature Lost Path Formation that can render him undetectable to passing cultivators. 543
Personality
Luo Mu is intensely ambitious and has rejected an ordinary life since childhood. His desire to stand at the pinnacle of the cultivation world drives his relentless cultivation, accumulation of resources, and willingness to risk severe injury for advancement. 1 33 420
He is cautious with his identity and treasures, avoiding fights whose outcomes he cannot judge and eliminating enemies he considers future threats. His poison cultivation, battlefield scavenging, and use of Soul Lock Runes reflect a pragmatic and often ruthless survival instinct. 33 65 115 244
Despite these methods, Luo Mu invests heavily in those under him. He distributes cultivation resources, recognizes usefulness beyond realm or talent, and does not use Soul Lock Runes to casually threaten his subordinates. 162 188 264
His strongest personal attachments remain tied to his father, old friends, and Han Yue. He entered Wanfa Sect to honor Luo Yanshan's wish, plans to save Yang Qing, and reacts fiercely when Han Yue is endangered. 135 301 340
“Heaven gives every man a talent for a purpose. Everyone has their own strengths. So long as they are discovered and put to proper use, they can all achieve no small measure of success.” 188
