Background

At the height of his life, Qianyuan was a lone Poison Cultivator from Central Province. He created the eight-layer Poison Spirit Art and became one of the region's most feared middle-stage Great Ascension cultivators. His signature Soul-Devouring Fan and Poison Spirit Power allowed him to fight opponents above his realm, and major Central Province factions sought to recruit him, though he never joined any of them 288 476.

Qianyuan eventually became an enemy of the Pilgrimage Sect. Its foremost Supreme Elder, Chao Tuo, personally fought him; Qianyuan was defeated, but inflicted grave injuries on the late-stage Great Ascension cultivator before escaping as a soul. His soul endured by remaining bound to the Soul-Devouring Fan, while most of his magic treasures were destroyed in the final battle 476.

Seeking an inheritor, Qianyuan released the Poison Spirit Art and an inheritance treasure into the outside world. He personally brought Luo Mu to his inheritance site after recognizing Luo Mu's nature as a Poison Cultivator and his possession of the Soul-Devouring Fan 287 288. Luo Mu eventually accepted Qianyuan as his master after Qianyuan revealed his desire for revenge against a Mahayana-level enemy and his need for a new body 290.

Qianyuan guided Luo Mu in refining the Soul-Devouring Fan and the Octagonal Tower's core, making Luo Mu the tower's new master. He also taught Luo Mu to condense Poison Spirit Power rather than waste it in unfocused attacks 316 321. Although Qianyuan had once controlled the Octagonal Tower, he willingly placed its future in Luo Mu's hands 313 321.

After taking control of Luo Mu's body to confront Ao Cheng, Qianyuan chose the Poison Flood Dragon's corpse as a replacement vessel. He successfully fused with the body, though he retained Ao Cheng's appearance and could not inherit Ao Cheng's memories or previously cultivated arts 474 488 490. His recovery thereafter accelerated, allowing him to return as an active force in Sinful Domain and eventually confront Chao Tuo again 570 625.

Appearance

In his soul manifestation, Qianyuan appears in white silk robes with long black hair falling loosely over his shoulders. His form has an imposing presence, but remains faintly illusory due to his lack of a physical body 292.

Personality

Qianyuan is exceptionally proud of his achievements as the creator of the Poison Spirit Art, but his confidence is grounded in a lifetime of effort. Unlike Luo Mu, whose physique allows abnormal advancement, Qianyuan raised his cultivation step by step through talent, opportunity, and painstaking work 289 572.

As a master, he is patient, perceptive, and protective. He recognizes Luo Mu's potential without dismissing the dangers surrounding him, and explicitly refuses to send his disciple against Chao Tuo before Luo Mu has sufficient strength to survive 290. He supports Luo Mu's companions with magic treasures because he considers them essential allies in Luo Mu's future ambitions 313.

His relaxed manner conceals a deep and enduring hatred for Chao Tuo and the Pilgrimage Sect. In battle, Qianyuan is calculating rather than reckless, conserving spiritual power when necessary and exploiting an opponent's weakness immediately when an opportunity appears 583 627.
