For the sake of the Centaur ' honor and reputation, they had to put on an act of confidence and nonchalance.

But this act only made Tom think they were very capable, and he started asking increasingly tricky and strange questions.

The two Centaur had no choice but to grit their teeth and bear it, their hearts filled with bitterness.

The next morning, Tom's IChat window vibrated with a message from Rosier.

The candidate has been selected, and detailed information has been attached. If there are no objections, the person can arrive in the Britain tomorrow.

Tom opened the file and his expression instantly turned strange.

The world is so big, how could it all be such a coincidence?

He wrote "agree" on the paper, closed the notebook, and was already looking forward to meeting his new teacher.

Since he's one of our own, we'll definitely take better care of him in class from now on.

On Monday morning, Professor McGonagall suddenly informed Albus Dumbledore that someone had applied for the Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Albus Dumbledore, who had just been turned down by an old friend and was looking gloomy, immediately perked up and hurried back to Hogwarts.

I'd like to meet this Champion dared to apply for this "ursed position".

"Greetings, Mr. Dumbledore! I've long admired your name, and now I finally get to see you in person! Hahahaha!"

Albus Dumbledore's lips twitched slightly, and he thought to himself: So you've seen dead people before?

"This gentleman..." Albus Dumbledore, giving the other person time to introduce himself.

"Oh dear, what a terrible memory I have! I was so excited to see you that I forgot to introduce myself!"

The applicant smiled and shook hands with Albus Dumbledore again, speaking in a hearty tone.

"My name is Ross Wilkinson, United States, a graduate of the Ilvermorny Wampus School, and due to a minor accident, I'm currently living in Germany."

That's right, the Acolyte Rosier chose was the one Tom had saved from four Auror back then.

Ross Wilkinson, the ruthless man who slept with someone's cube-shaped wife.

Ross' relatives in Germany were not of the Acolyte lineage, so this identity was not considered sensitive.

Pure-blood families in the Wizarding World are all related by blood; the Wizarding Wars of yesteryear were essentially relatives fighting each other.

As long as he and his immediate family members have no scandalous history, there shouldn't be any problem.

Moreover, Gellert Grindelwald had wronged the Graves Family back then, Ross admired Gellert Grindelwald from the bottom of his heart.

I recently joined the Acolyte and passed the covenant test, so there's absolutely no need to worry about their loyalty.

Ross grinned, his tone sincere. "I heard Hogwarts is recruiting professors, isn't it?"

"I already admire you immensely, and since I had nothing better to do, I decided to try my luck."

"Wilkinson ..." Albus Dumbledore he listened to his thick West Coast accent.

"Is it the Wilkinson Family of Charity Wilkinson, one of the Twelve Auror?"

Ross' eyes lit up, and he gave a thumbs up. "Truly worthy of being the greatest wizard of this century, so knowledgeable!"

"You know the family history across the ocean like the back of your hand? That's right, I am the thirteenth generation of the Wilkinson Family!"

So she comes from a prestigious family.

But Albus Dumbledore didn't dare to let his guard down, after all, none of the people who had applied for this position before were easy to deal with.

Some changed their names to evade capture, while others were poachers targeting the Fantastic Beasts of the Forbidden Forest.

There are also dark wizards eyeing the Restricted Section; all sorts of demons and monsters are involved.

However, on the surface, Albus Dumbledore still wore a gentle smile.

"Mr. Wilkinson, you just said that you encountered some unexpected problems. Could you elaborate?"

"Please don't misunderstand, I'm doing this for the students' sake; it's essential to have a thorough understanding of the professor's background."

"Of course, no problem!" Ross waved his hand generously. "It's not a secret; you can easily find out by asking around in United States."

"Back then, I had a feud with Graves, who is now the Head of the Auror Office, and out of spite, I slept with his wife."

"That guy got furious and put a warrant for my arrest on the wanted list. I had no choice but to flee to Germany."

"Although there hasn't been much news lately, I still don't dare to go back to the United States."

He paused, then added, "I'm applying for this job because I admire you, the great white wizard, and also because I'm curious about Hogwarts."

"As you know, the Founders of Ilvermorny's greatest ambition is Hogwarts. As for the third thing, it's that I'd like to ask you for a favor."

Ross gave a shy smile, "You are the president of the International Confederation of Wizards, and I hope you can help me remove that arrest warrant."

Albus Dumbledore thought to himself that his position as chairman was just an honorary title, and that the person truly in charge of day-to-day management was Babajide Akinbade from Africa.

However, given his influence, lifting such an arrest warrant, which was itself based on personal grudges and was irregular, would be more than enough for him.

Moreover, Ross's reasons were reasonable and indeed seemed to reflect his true desires.

Albus Dumbledore silent. Sure enough, none of those who volunteered to apply for the Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts were easy to deal with.

This Ross is clearly a wanted criminal, yet he dares to swagger in front of him; he's got some nerve.

However, Graves was clearly abusing his power for personal gain, so Ross weren't a major offense.

Among all those shady applicants, Ross ' family background was already considered clean.

Seeing Albus Dumbledore silent, Ross assumed he was about to refuse and quickly assured him.

"Mr. Dumbledore, please rest assured, I was simply seeking revenge, I'm definitely not the kind of person who would do anything reckless!"

"Besides, I did my research before I came. Aren't all the professors at Hogwarts single?"

"Even if I wanted to mess around, I didn't have the means!"

Albus Dumbledore's eyelids twitched wildly, and he thought to himself: Who's worried about you messing around! I'm worried about you leading your students astray!

"Mr. Wilkinson, could you demonstrate your magical abilities?" Albus Dumbledore quickly changed the subject.

"After what happened with Lockhart, the students have a great deal of distrust in the professors' abilities and are in dire need of a highly skilled Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts."

"No problem!" Ross readily agreed and immediately demonstrated it in the Headmaster's Office.

Don't be fooled by the fact that he was chased like a dog by four Auror back then. In a one-on-one fight, he could at least fight to a draw, if not win for sure.

While not as accomplished as some of the professors at Hogwarts, he was more than capable of teaching students.

Albus Dumbledore watched and nodded repeatedly.

Compared to Ross, Lockhart and Quirrell are utterly insignificant.

"Mr. Wilkinson, thank you very much for choosing Hogwarts," Albus Dumbledore said slowly.

"However, I need some more time to consider whether you are a suitable candidate, and I also need to interview other applicants."

Ross's face instantly fell, and he said with a pained expression, "Mr. Dumbledore, I have no relatives or friends in Britain, and I don't even have a place to stay..."
