But tonight's petrification incident in the Chamber of Secrets has absolutely nothing to do with Ross.

Snape's ability to navigate between the two dark giants so smoothly and steadily demonstrates his exceptional cunning and shrewdness.

Tom knew that he could see through even the slightest flaw, and that he absolutely couldn't defend Ross right now; that would be counterproductive.

He decided to play dumb and probe the question.

"Professor, if you suspect Wilkinson, why didn't you say so directly in front of Albus Dumbledore?"

Snape gave him a look that said, "Is this stupid?" with utter exasperation. "Albus Dumbledore about Quirrell's problem last year? Did he listen to a single word?"

"Don't be fooled by that old man's gentle appearance; once he's made up his mind, nothing can change it."

Tom shrugged, looking nonchalant and indifferent.

"He's the principal; he holds the power. Even you, the dean of the college, can't persuade him. What's the point of complaining to a student like me?"

"Keep your eyes on him."

Snape immediately lowered his voice, his tone grave. "Find out his true purpose, find out if he's a new pawn planted by the Dark Lord in the school."

Tom chuckled inwardly. Sure enough, Snape was half right.

Ross was indeed a pawn of the Dark Lord, but he was not the same person as the Voldemort in the Dark Lord's imagination.

"You really know how to give students difficult problems." Tom forced a helpless smile and decisively refused.

"There's no reason to send students to investigate such a high-risk mission. If you want to investigate, you should do it yourself."

Snape's fist hardened instantly, almost unable to suppress his anger.

He really couldn't understand it; how could this kid be like an ordinary second-grade student?

Just seeing him standing there filled him with inexplicable dread, as if he were facing a lurking, ancient beast.

This semester, he completely gave up on the idea of sparring with Tom. Without using his forbidden trump card, he probably couldn't even manage a draw.

"Don't regret it if you cause trouble later."

Unable to control Tom, Snape could only utter a sarcastic and harsh remark.

He then returned to the main matter, "Send over the mature Mandrake as soon as possible, don't delay my potion-making."

"It will be delivered to your office first thing tomorrow morning."

Tom turned and left Snape's office with a flourish, heading straight back to the Slytherin Common Room.

The lounge was incredibly noisy, with everyone gathered around discussing the chaotic scene in the Chamber of Secrets that night, and the blood-red warning text on the wall.

Even though Tom now has a clear advantage over the Pure-blood, making them unable to hold their heads up, their Pure-blood arrogance, ingrained in their bones, has not diminished in the slightest.

These people secretly hoped for the so-called "academy purification." They didn't expect everyone to be top-tier Pure-blood, but at least they couldn't let Muggle-born wizard surpass them.

In reality, everyone knows very well that the claims of pure bloodlines made by their ancestors are mostly exaggerated.

Truly Pure-blood families with no impurities have long since disappeared over time; the Gaunt family is the most vivid example of this.

As everyone was speculating about who had done it and who was behind it, Tom pushed open the door and walked in, silencing the entire room.

All the students looked away, none daring to meet his gaze.

Tom found it amusing and broke the awkward silence. "Don't be so reserved. I know many of you are secretly pleased."

"Hoping to use this incident to expel me from Hogwarts is simply naive. Trying to cause trouble with such rudimentary Dark Magic and a few threatening words is far too easy."

Before he could finish speaking, Steven Rosier abruptly stood up, looked around the room, and loudly retorted, "This has absolutely nothing to do with you!"

"Judging by your magical talent and your way of doing things, how do you seem like Muggle-born?"

"Among other Muggle freshmen, who can master the magic system as quickly as you and crush their peers?"

"Have you all forgotten the Sorting Hat's judgment? It shouted 'Slytherin' three times, declaring that you were born to be here!"

"The Sorting Hat embodies the will of the four Founders. Is its vision inferior to that of us, its successors?"

Rosier became increasingly confident and agitated as he spoke, launching a forced whitewashing campaign.

"I'm certain you're a descendant of some fallen, top-tier Pure-blood families!"

"The glory lost by our ancestors has been reborn in you; you have always been one of us, the Pure-blood!"

The lounge fell into a deathly silence; even Tom, the person directly involved, was completely dumbfounded.

Dude, your storytelling skills are amazing!

If I hadn't known I was an orphan, I almost would have been fooled by your perfect story.

What's even more outrageous is that these Slytherin all believed it without a doubt!

"That's right!"

Blaise Zabini was the first to chime in, "If a prodigy like Tom isn't considered Pure-blood, then what makes Slytherin stand up to the other three houses?"

Malfoy spoke slowly, unusually setting aside his prejudice against Tom.

"Although I have a grudge against him, it's undeniable that without his guidance, I couldn't have mastered the Iron Armor Charm so quickly and been able to consistently overpower Weasley."

"If someone of Weasley's impoverished bloodline can squeeze into the Sacred Twenty-Eight, I think this list should be updated long ago and Riddle's name should be added!"

"Don't bring up my great-grandfather," Nott waved his hand.

"However, if I were to revise the list in the future, I would definitely remove Weasley and Longbottom and replace them with Riddle's name."

In an instant, all the Slytherin students in the room took sides and echoed his sentiments, completely erasing Tom's Muggle-born in just a few words.

They forcibly gave him the persona of a fallen Pure-blood genius; these little snakes have simple and realistic thoughts.

Since we can't beat or afford to offend this top-tier player, we might as well make him one of our own.

Following and attaching oneself to the strong is Slytherin's survival rule; vindicating the strong is paving the way for the school's revival.

If the parents and grandparents of these students could see this scene today, they would surely be filled with emotion.

History always repeats itself.

Years ago, a group of people also tried desperately to whitewash a Half-blood man named Tom Riddle, praising his superior bloodline and unparalleled talent.

Who could have imagined that, years later, the same scenario would play out again?

"Think what you want."

Tom rubbed his forehead, looking at his classmates who were even more excited than he was. Too lazy to argue, he was forcibly rejoined the group.

"But let me make this clear from the start."

His tone suddenly turned cold, and the temperature in the lounge seemed to drop several degrees, causing the entire room to fall silent instantly.

Tom looked up toward the Gryffindor Tower, his attitude unyielding.

"Hermione is my bottom line. Anyone who dares to gossip or provoke her because of this incident will face my wrath."

"I've been researching Dark Magic and various curses lately, and I need a few practice targets. Who wants to try?"
