Storm Style 2

His shouts did nothing. A Lightning Release technique cast by a jonin struck right beside the genin, blasting many of them away. They landed sprawled on the ground, their fates unknown.

"Retreat! What are you standing around for?" The jonin was so furious he could have spat blood. They were fighting jonin, and instead of thinking about running, these people were just standing around in a daze. They were asking to get themselves killed.

His words snapped them out of it, and they quickly retreated. But just then, Li Yi glanced back. The Sharingan in his eyes spun wildly, and he cast a genjutsu.

One of the chunin froze. Then his eyes turned bloodred, and he drew a kunai and stabbed the comrade beside him.

The comrade had never expected his teammate to stab him in the back. Completely unprepared, he was pierced through the heart.

When the others realized what had happened, they hurriedly backed away from the chunin in horror.

"His eyes!" someone cried. The chunin's eyes had turned into a Three Tomoe Sharingan, the visual manifestation of the Sharingan Genjutsu's power.

Any ninja or summoned beast controlled by the Sharingan would display the caster's Sharingan in their eyes.

"He's been controlled! The Sharingan!" one of his comrades immediately shouted.

"Quick, take him down first!" several other chunin said, forming Hand Seals and preparing to use ninjutsu.

Li Yi had already swung his blade at Kujokawa, the wielder of the Storm Style Kekkei Genkai.

"Ha!" Kujokawa roared. Lightning raged even more fiercely all over his body. He couldn't use Lightning Style: Chakra Mode, but his Kekkei Genkai, Storm Style, gave him access to a ninjutsu that was equally useful for offense and defense.

It was Storm Style: Thunder Cloud Inner Wave, the technique he had already used earlier.

This technique could be used for both offense and defense. Like Chidori Stream, it could coil around the body to keep enemies at bay; like Chidori, it could gather in the hand to deliver a thrusting attack.

So when Li Yi brought Ryujin Jakka down on him, the current crackling across Kujokawa's body was already moving to block the strike. At the same time, a laser-like spear of Lightning Release formed in Kujokawa's hand and shot straight toward Li Yi's head.

Li Yi tilted his head slightly, dodging the Lightning Release spear. Black-red flames instantly coiled around Ryujin Jakka, and he slammed it into the current surging over his opponent's body.

"Lightning Release: Multiple Lightning Arrows Technique!" The jonin who had been standing off to the side quickly formed Hand Seals. Countless lightning arrows appeared around him and attacked Li Yi in a wide spread.

Li Yi didn't even glance at the jonin's attack. Red flames blazed around his body as the lightning arrows passed right through him, doing him no harm at all.

"This won't work. He's immune to other nature transformations. Kujokawa, only your Storm Style can hurt him." The jonin began assessing what they'd learned.

Ninja battles were battles of information, too.

Once you knew your opponent's abilities, you could plan your strategy accordingly.

Kujokawa immediately said, "Ito, I'll hold him off. Go help the other chunin and genin. Have anyone who knows Water Release use it to attack him!"

Kujokawa quickly pieced things together. Since Li Yi had dealt with the Water Release jonin first, Water Release must have had some effect on him. That meant Water Release was his weakness.

It had to be said, fighting shinobi was mentally exhausting. One careless mistake could end with you dead.

Sure enough, they had only just begun fighting, and his abilities had already been figured out by his opponent. Of course, it was wishful thinking to believe that Water Release from the lower-ranking ninja could affect him.

Water countered fire when they were evenly matched. But if the fire was stronger, it simply evaporated the water.

How could a bunch of genin and chunin who couldn't even use Chakra Nature Transformation possibly affect Li Yi?

The jonin named Ito rushed over and quickly subdued the chunin Li Yi had controlled. Then he began ordering the Water Release users to unleash a barrage of Water Release techniques against Li Yi.

Faced with the oncoming Great Waterfall, Li Yi merely leaped lightly to avoid the torrent. By the time he landed again, he was standing on the surface of the water.

But soon, a current ran through the water. Li Yi frowned and looked into the distance. Ito had placed both hands in the water and called out, "Kujokawa, now!"

Li Yi tried to break free, but the current carried a powerful pull that held him fast against the surface of the water.

The Storm Style ninja, Kujokawa, was already forming Hand Seals. He opened his mouth and spat out a long beam of light that swept horizontally toward Li Yi.

"What a pain!" Li Yi cursed inwardly as he turned into flames once more. Red fire surged from his body. Just as the laser was about to hit him, columns of water burst from the surface and shot toward him.

Countless wisps of white vapor rose from Li Yi's body. It was obviously not smoke, but mist.

The laser struck Li Yi just then, and pain flared in his chest. Although he had turned back into flames as the beam passed through him, he could still feel the tearing sensation from the attack. Where the Water Release had washed over him, blood and flesh were exposed.

The laser had struck that exposed flesh. If those Water Release techniques had been any stronger, he would have been in real trouble.

Li Yi broke out in a cold sweat. The Shinobi World really was dangerous. If word of his abilities got out, he would be in even greater danger. He still hadn't fully developed Ryujin Jakka. Wouldn't it be a waste to die halfway through?

"Too bad Shota is dead. Otherwise, he definitely could have taken care of that Konoha Ninja!" Kujokawa sighed. They had missed such a good opportunity.

"Die!" Li Yi shot straight into the sky, flames blasting from the soles of his feet as he hovered in midair. He rapidly formed Hand Seals and took a deep breath.

"Blaze Release: Great Fire Destruction!" Li Yi spat out an enormous black-red fireball. The instant it hit the water, it spread into a vast black-red sea of flames. Li Yi had used this very technique to trap Yotsuki Hayate until he died.

Now Li Yi had no intention of holding back. As the saying went, even a lion used its full strength against a rabbit. He had been too careless just now and had learned a lesson the hard way.

As the sea of fire spread, the water evaporated in an instant, and everything around them vanished into a thick white haze. Feeling the terrifying heat, Kujokawa quickly retreated. Even so, the flames caught up with him. But he had something like Lightning Style Armor around his body, so he escaped the range of the technique with only a scare.

But the genin and chunin who had been standing on the water, Ito among them, were swallowed by the sea of fire and screamed in agony.

Li Yi's Fire Style was far stronger than ordinary Fire Style. Even a jonin's physique wouldn't hold out for long. The genin and chunin were burned to ashes on the spot. Ito's condition was miserable, too, but relying on the Lightning Flash of his Lightning Release, he barely managed to escape the flames.
