As Matthias finished speaking, Fabio fell silent, seemingly pondering the logic of those words.
"Fabio..." Matthias was starting to lose patience. "Do I need to repeat it for you?"
"An unexploded nuclear bomb... caused a new crater to appear..." Fabio spoke slowly, as though digesting the information. "Matthias, are you speaking French to me?"
"You think it's ridiculous, don't you? Why don't you ask those newspapers?" Matthias shot back. "Ask them... whether they're treating us like Englishmen and making fools of us."
Wizet pressed his lips together, doing his best to keep from laughing.
But Luna still noticed something. She started misbehaving too, leaning close to Wizet's face and whispering, "Did you hear something interesting?"
Wizet misbehaved as well. He blew on Luna's earlobe and said in an even softer voice, "The newspapers reported something about a nuclear bomb and the moon..."
"The two gentlemen ahead of us found it unbelievable. One of them thought the reports were fake and said the newspapers were treating them like Englishmen and making fools of them."
