Dumbledore accepted the object Wizet handed him. As his fingertips touched its cold metal surface, a complicated emotion appeared in his eyes.
"Its name is the Deluminator..." He sighed wistfully and introduced it to Wizet. "A magical device I made myself... designed to work in tandem with my 'soul power.'"
"Thinking back to that battle..." Dumbledore continued, "perhaps I instinctively realized..."
"Obtaining the Resurrection Stone within a short time would be exceedingly difficult, so I had to find another solution."
Wizet blinked. "Headmaster Dumbledore, was the solution you came up with... using 'soul power'?"
"Exactly!" Dumbledore nodded. "I was in a very unusual state then, acting mainly on instinct and making responses that my instincts deemed appropriate."
"For me in that state, using 'soul power' to achieve my goal was one of the quickest methods, so I used the Deluminator."
Without realizing it, he recalled the last time he had used the Deluminator.
The last time he had used it had been to awaken his nephew, to keep him from being blinded by hatred and deceived by others.
This time, however, the situation was quite different. The one blinded by his own emotions, even driven to extreme actions, was no longer his nephew, but himself.
Although his thoughts had been filled with longing at the time and he had fought solely on instinct, he knew perfectly well that even in that state, he could easily cause tremendous destruction.
Fortunately, he had brought Wizet along. Perhaps only a Guardian who had gradually grown stronger could have restored his clarity in such circumstances and prevented him from making even greater mistakes.
