Luna stood before the bedroom door, absently tidying her hair before slowly turning the handle.
With a click, she pulled the door open a crack. Warm yellow light spilled in, casting a long streak across the floor.
She pulled the door fully open and found Wizet standing there, a gentle smile on his face. He held the wizard hat in one hand, as though he were about to complete some important ritual.
In the warm yellow light, Wizet saw a sweet orange blush spread across Luna's cheeks.
In truth, before the door opened, he had imagined many things he wanted to say.
Yet when the door truly opened and his gaze met Luna's pale silver eyes, all the words he had prepared lodged in his throat with his quickening heartbeat, and he could not get any of them out.
It seemed to be more than simply a racing heart and an inability to speak. He found himself able only to stare blankly at Luna, his whole body growing hot. Perhaps the tips of his ears, like Luna's cheeks, had been turned sweet orange by the light.
Since he could not say anything, he should do something!
Wizet was a man of action. He raised his free hand and tucked the strands of hair hanging by Luna's cheek behind her ear.
He lifted the wizard hat with both hands and gently placed it back on Luna's head, his careful movements as though he were completing an incomparably precious work of art.
Wizet carefully put the hat on Luna, while carefully feeling Luna's gaze upon him.
Luna's gaze was gentle, gentle as moonlight. He could feel that Luna was studying him as well.
Without realizing it, he found Luna's gaze drawing closer and closer—so close that he could see his own face
