Gunfire and shouted spells suddenly erupted, followed by a deafening roar from the entrance hall.
The turbulent air currents kicked up by the battle surged toward Joseph Bonanno, slamming hard into his back. It chilled not only his spine, but most of his heart as well.
He had never imagined that before the plan had even begun, they would run into the worst-case scenario he had envisioned.
Fortunately, after struggling through New York for so many years, he had made preparations even for the worst possible outcome. He would not truly be driven into a corner.
Joseph Bonanno and the others had already entered the room. He took a deep breath and made his voice as imposing as possible. "Profa, how are things over there?"
"Very bad!" The subordinate named Profa wore a grave expression, his brows drawn tightly together. "The lookouts told me... the attack had no effect at all."
Joseph Bonanno's expression turned serious as well. "Did they see who was there?"
"There are six people in total. Five of them are MACUSA wizards..." Profa said. "I'm afraid... the men we sent out earlier have already been subdued by them."
"Was it the sixth person?" Joseph Bonanno's eyes flickered. "With the abilities of those five MACUSA lapdogs, our men could never have failed!"
"I'm afraid so..." Profa nodded. "The lookouts said... the five MACUSA wizards never made a move. The sixth person was the one fending off all the attacks."
"Then blow this place up!" Joseph Bonanno closed his eyes and drew a deep breath. "Ten seconds from now!"
"And them..." Profa drew out the words, his gaze falling on Mrs. Appaloosa and the child, a glint of ruthlessness flashing in his eyes.
