Herpo's face darkened, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
Questions about Calchas were the ones he least wanted to answer.
The main reason was that even he could not understand it. According to his Horcrux theory, Voldemort should have been easier to control after tearing his soul into so many fragments.
Yet Voldemort's final state was the complete opposite. Even after he proposed the "Squib Legion" plan, he had still failed to achieve the goal of "controlling Voldemort."
Herpo took a deep breath. "I merely needed someone to carry out the plan. Voldemort was the best choice."
He tried to keep his voice steady. "I believe you've experienced Voldemort's magical prowess firsthand as well."
"So many unforeseen changes have emerged now. The Guardian's side isn't even affected by Limbo, so we need to accelerate the plan. That is why I chose to show weakness."
"Calchas, don't forget the thing we value and anticipate most! We await My Lord's descent, and then we shall enjoy My Lord's blessings. Do you understand?"
As one of the Isaiah Society's core members, Calchas naturally had his attention drawn by this ultimate aspiration.
"My Lord's blessings!" His eyes lit up at once, his voice overflowing with fervor.
Then his gaze dimmed again as he voiced the concern weighing most heavily on his mind. "What about that Guardian? Are you sure there won't be any more unexpected developments?"
Compared to Herpo, the Paris Region Incident had happened only recently for him. He immediately thought of the threat Wizet posed.
"That is why I cooperated with Voldemort..." Herpo said. "Just as I said back then, Voldemort could be used to throw England into chaos."
"And Voldemort did exactly that... Although he has now been driven here, he still left behind a seed there—inside Hogwarts, no less."
